take a look at this and theres loads of different kinds, with great cargo boxes on the fron to take two kids and the shopping etc...

question is, do they look safe for streets here in blighty less used to a cycle culture?? im not in a big smoke either...so its narrow, often speeded-on country lanes id be tackling...

will try to find links to the cargo-bikes...

I'm a fairly serious cyclist, and have done various permutations of kids on bikes. My main comment wrt some of the pics on that link is that even a three-year old on the back does really affect the handling of the bike, particularly in traffic. I wouldn't be terribly keen on most of those setups in any context other than a dedicated cycle path well away from traffic or other obstacles.

the ones where the kids are in the low buckets at the front thus rather than perched up behind you or on the handlebars are meant to handle more easily as the centre of gravity is lower - I live in a very cyclable city so see quite a few weird and wonderful bike solutions!

NQC is a good one to ask - she cycles in London rather than country lanes though.

ooh yes, mrs B, thats the kind i like best (couldnt find a good pic)

don't like the wheelbarrow-effect ones but cycling with child infront is a lot easier.

road tested a couple, but to be honest i live in cornwall with mighty steep hills and i would never beable to keep it up.

think i would just have to wait until kids were bigger to cycle with them. would be great in a town with flat roads and good cycle paths.
