reversable pushchairs!!!

used2bthin · 12/07/2007 09:19

Right. DD has screamed in her jane carrera pushchair since it went forward facing. So have got a bit of money that i think i'll use to get her a new pushchair thats reversible. She's 10 months. I have got a small car boot but if the perfect pushchair was too big i suppose i could just use the carrera in the car as mainly we walk places. Not ideal though.Oh and i want it to look good!Budget 200ish. Have researched it a bit but don't know anyone with some of the ones i liked(i candy cherry, first wheels city elite) and some seem to be websiteexclusive so wondered what the opinion was here? Any advice?

Hauck Infinity, £129 at Kiddicare, forward and rear facing, looks like a Bugaboo.
Great pushchair.

Sorry

Yes Kiddicare are a very very good site. They email, text and phone you to let you know when your order is being despatched and when you'll get it.

Its normally next day or day after delivery.

here it is but I've just looked on Kiddicare and they dont seem to have it in stock atm.
You can get them everywhere though and they do different colours.
I have black with a green and yellow seat. It came with a footmuff too.

used2bthin · 12/07/2007 11:01

Thanks very much for the link, i looked and thought they had it in red. Will look it up to see different colour options too

I have the ICandy Cherry - and I love it!! DS is just gowing out of the carrycot bit at 5 months so will need to get the seat unit out - it has a lovely thick and comfy looking footmuff with fleece and a raincover all included in the price. I actually only wanted the pushchair, but the shop I went to only sold it as a complete package. I use the chassis with my car seat on the school run, which is so easy!

It folds really easily, fits in the boot of my Clio and pushes really smoothly - and the shopping basket is very very spacious! I have had the seat unit on the frame and it looks great - but you have to remove it to fold it down - you can fold it in one piece when forward facing though! I can see myself using it rear facing for ever!

I have always wanted a Jane Carrera to replace my battered M&P Pramette - but will have to look at second hand!!!

used2bthin · 15/07/2007 22:21

Ooh yes i like the look of the i cany cherry. The carrera was great with the matrix attatched but i've found the harness a bit uncomfortable looking and not very good, also it is defo only for town pushing. We took it to a festival thing today and i thought the wheels would fall off from pushing on grass! How is the i candy cherry at that kind of thing?

OP posts:
andyrobo237 · 16/07/2007 11:45

Not really tried it on grass - it is very light, so may manage it, but it has small wheels - I only use it around town - we ise our 3 wheeler with air tyres off road! (I only have 3 prams at the moment!!!! LOL)

nearlythere · 16/07/2007 11:49

warning: Icandy Cherry seems to be having major reliability issues at the moment!

andyrobo237 · 16/07/2007 11:55

Well mine is behaving itself at the moment! I also bought it from a local shop who won awards for their service last year, so if I have any problems then I am satisfied that they will sort them out to my satisfaction!! Definately pays to buy local even if you pay more than you can get stuff for on the internet (not that you can buy them online!)

nearlythere · 16/07/2007 12:00

i agree- the problems that i have been having to sort out (as an icandy retailer) is people who have bought them somewhere and been given them still in boxes with no assembly done whatsoever! (although you can't buy online you can order either via e-mail or phone, lots of retailers have messages on their websites stating 'ring us for details or to buy') I agree with buying locally but nfortunatly people aren't always happy to pay that bit extra and have the local support!!

littleducks · 16/07/2007 12:10

i have had trouble with my icandy cherry, and my local, well recommended store has been less than helpful....icandy wont intervene they originally said i could order a part off them, debited my card then changed their mind refunded me and left me to find a retailer who would order for me.

It was only when i phoned them direct i realised they were part of little shield, which is a brand i wouldnt have bought. Once i have the new part, i will be selling mine asap.

dcb · 17/07/2007 10:00

i have a mamas and papas venezia which i love. dd is now 12 mths and we still use it. it's dead easy to change between forward and rear - just move the handle bar back and forth - handy for when the sun is in her eyes or you want a chatter. you can also just lay it down flat easily rather than having to change the seat around. it folds up reasonably small and weighs 9 kilos - depending on how much crap is in the huge shopping basket. the only downside is that the wheels are in locked position when forward facing rather than swivel but you soon get used to it. i wouldn't swap it! you can get them in the sale at this time of year as their new stock comes out in august.

used2bthin · 17/07/2007 15:49

Oh thanks for the warning maybe won't go for that Anyone know where i can actually see a hauck infinity? Are they only available online? Any opinions on the loola? I'm 5.10 so worried it may be too low don for me to push. Dcb the venetia sounds good, they don't seem to have it on their website tho, is it big?

OP posts:
sarahlou1uk · 17/07/2007 15:52

Hauck Infinity is the same as Mothercare Maui pram. I've had one and loved it, although it was a pain when in rear facing mode to remove the seat and store in two parts in the car . I now have a Loola and yes, it is heavy but will fold rear facing and is smaller in the car than the infinity ever was.

sarahlou1uk · 17/07/2007 15:53

Re Loola height - I'm 5' 8" and I manage ok. The handles have 3 positions so you can alter to fit.

used2bthin · 17/07/2007 15:58

Oh i see, i'd heard they were the same, i've never seen the infinity in RL. Looked at a loola today and would have to try it out in my car the boot is THAT small. Mind you,may not use it in the car that much its more for walking round where i live to groups etc. What colour have you got? I've only seen them in shops in black or red but have heard they do purple too.

OP posts:
used2bthin · 17/07/2007 15:59

is the loola heavy to push or just to lift when folding?

OP posts:
sarahlou1uk · 17/07/2007 16:01

I have a mauve Loola but I bought off another mumsnetter and it's not this years colours. There are a lot of sellers on ebay who stock the new colours - have a look at the Bebeconfort site. Re Infinity - I bought from online4baby on ebay. I got the pram and raincover for £100.

used2bthin · 17/07/2007 16:03

oh thanks will look at both those sites. Wish i'd just got a rear facing one to start with. The matrix was MEANT to be up to 9months but she grew out of it AGES ago!

OP posts:
sarahlou1uk · 17/07/2007 16:04

Loola is heavy to lift into car and also a lot heavier to steer than the Infinity. Go into Mothercare and fold the Loola down and then try and lift it. It's not too heavy for me, but I'm a big lass and use to heavy loads ! While you are there, try the Maui (Infinity). It's a lot lighter to steer. I mainly used my Infinity with the car seat adapter for the Graco seat with just the frame. When dd was too big for her car seat, I sold my infinity as I couldn't be bothered to reassemble every morning when I took ds to school. It was such a performance getting the chassis out and then attaching the seat to walk down to school from the car - and then when I got back to the car, had to do the same. It added an extra 15 mins onto a school run.

used2bthin · 17/07/2007 16:16

Ah I see, so it may be better if I could just use it for walking about. I feel too nervous to buy online but it does seem like you get them cheaper and more colour choices that way.

OP posts:
sarahlou1uk · 17/07/2007 16:20

Go and try them out before you think about buying online. I've made a few wrong choices along the way and ended up selling prams on as I haven't liked them when they arrived. Once you know which one you want to go for - shop around. IMO independent baby shops (ie. not Mothercare) don't mind doing a discount if it means they get a sale instead of you buying over the internet. Good luck !
Oh, one other thing. Don't try out the prams empty - put your little one in and have a push around the shop. It's surprising how heavy some prams are with a child in!!!

used2bthin · 17/07/2007 16:23

Thanks so much for your advice, we've only got two independant shops neaer ish but will visit both. One more question if u don't mind? Do either pushchairs sit upright fully in rear mode? DD is 1omonths so needs to be able to sit up.

OP posts:
sarahlou1uk · 17/07/2007 16:28

Yes. The Loola's back lies down and sits up fully in both rear and forward. The infinity has a bucket seat and the whole seats tips either forward or backwards (iuswim). The seat on the Infinity is one piece (like the buzz) and the Loola is more of a traditional pram seat (ie seat bottom part stays still while the back moves into 4 positions.
Hope I made this clear??!??!? (as mud, perhaps!)
