We're making plans to update our bottle and steriliser reviews and we'd love to know which ones you'd recommend.

Your suggestions will help us to create a shortlist of products to test over three months, as we try to find the best value bottles and sterilisers on the market.

Also if you have any tips for new parents on choosing the right bottle/steriliser combo then please do share them on this thread.

Thanks!

Started with the Tomee Tippee anti colic bottles & sterliser but had terrible trouble with the bottles leaking. After an most entire feed was dumped over the baby at 3am we switched to Mam bottles.
The Mam bottles seem to be much better for his colic and being able to sterilise in the microwave has been a godsend.

I started off with the dr browns bottles and microwave steriliser but the bottles leaked and there were too many bits to clean and the steriliser hardly fit in my microwave.

We switched to tommee tippee bottles and steam steriliser and found them much better and quick and easy to use.

Avent microwave steriliser is brilliant. Fits 4 or 5 bottles, done in 4 minutes, no bleach residue or smell. We just store it in the microwave so it doesn’t take up any space. Cost £15 on offer.

Bottles have been a mixed bag. Loved Medela Calma for my first breastfed baby when he was very small. Switched to Tommee Tippee around 8 months for larger volume and easier to wash up but he developed a huge bottle preference at that point and went on a nursing strike as a consequence. Second breastfed baby did well with Medela Calma initially but then refused bottles and would ultimately only take Mam.

Mam bottles and electric steriliser. They're amazing! My baby only had a mild case of reflux but they helped massively and the steriliser is easy to use. I got into a routine of cleaning them each evening and it's worked really well for us. They've been used for 5 months solid and are just as good as they were new. They don't leak as long as you tighten them enough.

MAM bottles for sure; amazing. Can sterilise them in the microwave.

Steriliser - We have the Tommee Tippee Microwave one, so quick and easy

Spaceman101 · 18/03/2019 18:25

I've used MAM bottles with both of my babies. The self sterilise feature is fantastic.

BillyAndTheSillies · 18/03/2019 18:29

Another hands up for MAM bottles. Being able to sterilise them in a microwave was a god send.

YouBoggleMyMind · 18/03/2019 18:32

MAM bottles here after starting out with Tommee Tippee that didn't help our windy DS.

They can self sterilise very easily but they also fit in the TT steriliser we got with the TT bottles. We also have MAM dummies too.

Tommee tippee for me!

Used it for both my children and loved them

dreamyflower · 18/03/2019 19:01

Tommee tippee bottles and cold Milton steriliser. Steam just limescaled up all the time. Currently feeding my second baby and he took really well to tommee tippee bottles.

Tommee Tippee microwave steriliser

NUK and Dr Brown bottles

snowone · 18/03/2019 19:56

MAM bottles for us - and you don't need a steriliser for them because you can do them as individual units in the microwave Grin

owlofathena · 18/03/2019 20:26

Milton cold water steriliser

Byebyefriend · 18/03/2019 21:58

My first tommee tippee close to nature we're good never need to try anything else

Second didn't get on with tommee so went to mam anti colic, which she suits. More of a pain because of all the parts but like that you can microwave sterilise without anything else.

Start off cheap and see what you need for each baby.

Steriliser only got the tommee tippee electric one which was fine with tommee bottles but a little short for mam. So I suppose I'd recommend getting a steriliser that fits tall bottles so if you need to change bottles then most will fit.

glasshalfsomething · 18/03/2019 22:28

MAM definitely. The ease of microwave sterilisation can't be overlooked!

Rarfy · 18/03/2019 22:29

MAM anti colic self sterilising bottles for my 9 wk old dd.

They are great. I love that you can sterilise them in the microwave without any kit and can do one at a time if needs be. The only thing im not sure how to do with them and admittedly havent tried yet is making up a feed with kettle water and cooling.

I did try to warm a cow and gate carton in one when i first started using them i a jug of warm water but the water penetrated the bottle due to its design.

I had bought tommee tippe closer to nature but the community midwife on first visit asked what we bought and instructed us to replace them as they are very bad for colic and especially for early babies (dd born at 37wks and by csection). So they are sat untouched in the box and the tommee tippe microwave steriliser is now also redundant as we got the mam dummies which come in a box they can be sterilised in in the microwave.

Jammy135 · 19/03/2019 01:11

Baby latched on to Dr Brown bottles so we had those and the steriliser although I hated the bottles as they leaked! Once she finished with colic I put the Dr Brown teats in Morrison's own brand wide neck bottles and I've never looked back. For a basic bottle they're brilliant.
The Dr Brown steriliser is very good though.

zigzagbetty · 19/03/2019 06:35

Mam bottles were the ones that stopped my babies wind. They dont need a steriliser as they microwave individually which was a godsend when out and about.

Tommee Tippee Bottles and Steriliser

Sjh84 · 19/03/2019 08:03

I find the nuby natural touch steam steriliser really good - it dries the bottles too. It is tall and fits lots of different shaped bottles and other bits!
