Help-I need buggy advice!

I have a three year old, and we have recently moved 250 miles away from her Dad (we used to live ten miles down the road).

Therefore every second weekend we are doing a five hundred mile round trip on trains so that she can see him, and need a buggy that is up to the job.

It needs to be:

a) able to fit a three year old without being a tight squeeze.

b) comfy enough for her to sleep in when it gets too much for her.

c) able to manage the 40 min walk to the station at this end, and the 45 min walk at the other.

I'm not too bothered about accessories-she's too big for footmuffs and raincovers really, but it needs to come in at under £100 including p & p second hand.

My head's saying a Quinny Zapp as they are super portable, so can put it on the luggage rack above us and it won't disappear as we are currently leaving the volo three carriages down at times, but my heart is saying that she needs something more comfortable.

Any ideas anyone?

Thank you

if i were you i would get on ebay and see what they have on there,or if you have an asda living store near you they have bargain prams in there for about 50 pounds.i bought my son a chicco pram for 50 quid and it had three reclining positions, rainciver and footmuff.I also have a quinny zapp and its quite pants really it doesnt recline and if you have more than 3 bags on it it tips over. hope this helps )

a maclaren techno?
My ds2 has one and ds 1 occasionally uses it and hes quite a big 3.5 yr old weighing in at 45lb. it reclines if she wants to sleep, its umbrella fold and its very very lightweight so good option for the train

Had a techno and loved it but had to sell it to raise cash for the move (boo!). Just fancy a change really, and will get REALLY depressed if I have to buy a techno for more than I sold mine for because it was in gorgeous condition!

We had a Quinny Freestyle 3 wheeler for DS1 when he was 3, it seemed to handle very well with a big chunky boy in it...reclines, very cushy, nice to push...and it folds nice and flat (as far as anything comfy does!) and stays folded well. You couldn't put it on a shelf on the train, but it would probably sit under a seat or next to you when folded.

Sounds like a bit of an ordeal...are you doing it willingly or was it a case of that or not be allowed to move? (sorry being nosey, interested in PR and its effects on where you live!)

I've been offered the chance to study a BA in law at Cambridge, and he said he would "be reasonable" about me moving if I brought her up every second weekend, what a pain!

Oh well, at least I get a two day break every two weeks, which is more than most mums, so I can get a large chunk of my study done without pint sized distractions!

What about a Mothercare Jive?
Umbrella fold, easy to put up/down, reclining seat.

Think they're about £35 new.

Oh gosh...the sacrifices we make! Glad you seem to be so laid back about it though

I'd lend you our Quinny to try if we were nearer!
