She not a pampering herself for hours and hours type person.

Ideally I want something for her and the something else for her brand new daughter.

Thanks...

TBH I'd give her one of those baby books - about how to do everything from bathing to standard childhood diseases and what to do about them. Might not be exciting but mine came in very handy.

I'm not offended at all!! I've smashed it up into little pieces. I'm going to post it to my (ex) friend now. That'll teach her!!

A pack of 12 muslins, if she hasn't got them already. Or books on breast-feeding, about 4 months ago....

For the baby buy a whoozit zigzaggle. My DD loves hers and I have just bought one for a pregnant frend and someone who has had a new baby.
www.amazon.co.uk/Manhattan-Toy-203960-Whoozit-Zigzaggles/dp/B0007Q1K0G/ref=pd_bbs_sr_6/203-95 40678-0388749?ie=UTF8&s=toys&qid=1183666606&sr=8-6

They offer everythings babies need and love from a toy.. colours textures, things to hold, bite, shake, it crinkles and rattles. It is slightly pricey but well worth the money

My best friend's due in Aug and i've bought her (over a period of weeks) a hamper of bits and pieces i.e. wipes, various stages of nappies, creams, shampoo, calpol, lotions and potions, that sort of thing. She's going to struggle while she's not at work so i'm hoping that should help. Will buy her some of her favourite wine and will be on hand to support her if she needs it.
