are there any small cars that will take 3 child seats in the BACK?

I do want safe seats, ie WHICH top ratings, and acc to nice mothercare man who laughed at our car, that means slightly wider seats (all the padding? not sure)

it would be 1x booster, 1 x toddler 1x newborn to start with.

any thoughts much appreciated. I really don't want a big car. There is no way we can keep ours as it has a lap belt in the middle and we just can't get 3 seats into it anyway.

Fillyjonk

You should at least consider driving a bigger car.I had only drive a Punto and a Yaris until a month ago. Got a new mindee and couldn't get 3 seats in the back of the yaris so DH persuaded me to have a drive in his Mercedes V Class.
Looks like the van in the A Team??

It is great to drive and much easier to get kids in and out and into car seats etc. Will be getting a Mercedes Estate as soon as i can find one cos they seat 7 people.

Go for it!! If i can do it you can too

multipla

looks quite wide but not long like a people carrier - also feels quite nippy to drive (according to dh [car snob])

3 full size seperate seats in the back so any combination of anything works fine - also the same in the front - you can fold the front middle seat down so you have a table - like a sitting room on wheels

you can switch the front passenger airbag on and off yourself (useful)

boot not massive. Diesel v economical.

oh and you can get second hand ones quyite cheaply - mine was 2.5 years old and I got it for 5995.

Filly, we have a Focus but I don't think it would fit 3 child seats at the back. We have DD's Britax there and there's space for a booster seat for DS if on his own. If there's another child or adult we have to keep him off his booster seat, it's just not comfy enough. I will try this weekend, though, because we also need a newborn seat from October onwards, so it's useful to know in advance if they'll all fit in the car. (We also have an MPV but I've never driven that one.)

i SO do not want to drive a bigger car if there is ANY way around it

if for no better reason than that I CANNOT afford a safe one.

But dh has a Focus CMax and you can get 3 seats in that. It's the same chassis as the Focus, just a bit taller (and dead easy to drive).

Thanks, Filly, I gather you are pg too? If so, congrats your way as well.

I'll check out the seating in the Focus (ours is a 2.0 Ghia) once there's a break in the rain this weekend.
