Really impressed with the M&S scholwear

Have never brought their schoolwear before, as Asda and Adams have always been fine for the dd's, but our local Adams has now shut, and the this year I have to buy trousers as ds is starting school. Tried Asdas on him but they were HUGE.

So, took a trip to M&S today and it was fab, loads of choice and cheap too.

Got him 3 pairs of trousers, 6 polo shirts and a pair of pe pumps for £18

Very impressed, will definatly use them again.

My M & S stuff has lasted ages, the shoes are the best I have bought and the trouser didn't loose their colour no matter how much I washed them

I looked at the shoes, but am never very confident about me being able to tell if they fit. They had alot of choice in shoes though.

I think I am taking them to Clarks this year. For the past 2 years I have gone and brought them cheaper shoes, but ended up buying about 3 pairs throughout the year. So i'm going to try and save up enough to get them each a pair of clarks.

Nuttymuffins, Don't forget their feet will grow so you may still need 3 pairs over the year.

I've just been to M&S and bought our uniforms ready for September!

I feel super smug. I've never been so organise in my life. Usually it's a mad dash to the shops on about the 5th of September and hope they have the right sizes left.

All I have to get now are trousers and shoes but I will get these nearer the time to allow for any sudden growth spurts over the hols.

M&S are deffo better quality than elsewhere. I've trie Asda, BHS and Adams but none of them wear or wash half as well.

There's a 3 for 2 offer on at M&S on uniform at the moment so having 3 DCs it works out rather well for me.

Thats true Lickety, however this year, every pair of shoes I got them was in the original size, they just kept falling apart.

I looked in Clarks today and was pleasantly surprised to see several nice pairs , although was shocked at the £38 price tag on a pair for 4yr old DS.

I know what you mean about the price of them. I spent in the region of £110 for 3 pairs last September, then the youngest 2 decided they'd rather wear their trainers!

I've stuck to trainers since then. They're much cheaper (they're too young to worry about brands) you can bung them in the washing machine, they don't scuff (makes my blood boil how they scrape the toes off them on day one) an you on't have to buy another pair for PE.

NuttyMuffins · 29/06/2007 15:58

Mine aren't allowed to wear trainers though or that is what I would do too.

Mine aren't allowed to wear trainers either and I originally bought a pair of M & S school shoes as a back up pair since they were cheap in a sale. £9 compared to £38 startrite!!!!!!

They measue the feet in the local M & S and the shoes come in two width fittings. The shoea are fab...I have had so many comments about how well they have worn and not scuffed I decided to buy some more for next year.

I'm not on commission by the way

I bought my daughter the polo shirts from m and s and they were awful - they shrunk terribly
the pinafores and trousers have been fine though

I was disappointed by M & S shoes but the uniform is brilliant. The summer dresses last forever, wash really well and don't need ironing. Very cheap too. The girls' trousers are really good quality as well, as are the shirts. We've never bought the polo shirts though.
