I've just taken delivery of TEFAL ACTIFRY and wondered if anyone else has one, it sounds fantastically healthy etc, I will be trying out later to make some chips so I will report back.

(btw, if you don't know it cooks 1kg with 1tbsp chips and they are supposed to be v v crispy)

I've just made my first batch of chips and they are bloody gorgeous, lovely and crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle, and, dare I say, better than deep fried.

sounds good Radley but would prob be another machine in the back of a cupboard here. Was a bit confused about "it cooks 1kg with 1tbsp chips" .

Just doing a search for any consumer reports on the Tefal Actifry. Anyone else bought one? Would you recommend it Radley?

Radley · 17/07/2007 10:31

I would most definately recommend it, it is used nearly every day for different things and it is very easy to clean.

Anyone else got any comments on this. I'm thinking of buying a deep fat fryer (just for occassional use!)and was wondering whether it was worth the money.

was looking at these in the Lakeland shop in Windermere recently but thought they were very expensive - will stick to oven chips I think!

Hi, I have a Tefal ActiFry and I am delighted with it. The chips do take about 35 to 40 minutes to do but they are lovely and crispy, just how we like them. I have also made Sweet & Sour Pork Fillets (delicious and only took 20 minutes)and Chicken with Pineapple (also delicious and took 20 minutes - the chicken was beautiful and tender).

I still think that £149 is too much for it but I would not now be without it. It must be very healthy to use as the most oil that I use is one measure of sunflower oil or olive oil. I am going to make Paprika Chips next!

after reading a number of reviews at amazon, ciao etc., my impression is that it's a good idea, but

  • too small!
  • too plasticky, probably won't last long (is the pan teflon coated? it will scratch)
  • still too expensive (~ ?150 here)
  • not good for frying soft stuff so i'll wait until they get some competition and/or improve the model

that ? is supposed to be a euro sign
