Urgent question for those who are fat of foot!

I want some of these but my feet are too wide. Next had some great red ones that fitted but only in red and I don't really wear red. PLEASE does anyone who can't wear converse have something similar for wide feet? Oh and the urgency is because I go on holiday in a couple of days and the good old british weather is promising rain so sandals will be no good. Thanks!

no use for the OP but I have enjoyed a nice pair of shoes (at a price) from [[www.cinderellashoes.ie Cinderella Shoes]. I am mumsier though.

I have small wide feet. Nightmare.
How wide are you ?

snowleopard · 27/06/2007 11:36

Now there's a huge difference between clumpy (eg dr martens, I love them, another brand i can wear) and frumpy - ie comfort-oriented, footglove-type granny shoes with that disastrous gently tapering shape (makes large feet look like kayaks) and in colours like "mushroom".

Often I find the trouble with frumpy/specially sized shoes is that they're not clumpy enough. They're always ultra-safe and never out there, style-wise.

I mean, who wants shoes in two-tone mushroom and burgundy? WHO?

lemonaid · 27/06/2007 11:43

Mine are -- well, I'm not sure how wide they are, but very wide across the toes and the ball of the foot. And they are very deep. And I have a (relatively) narrow heel so if something fits at the front (an unlikely enough scenario) it rubs at the back and I get blisters/raw patches.

I have quite wide feet and wear PF FLyers - like converse but not!!

Oblomov · 27/06/2007 11:49

Well my feet are 'orrible. Sarah Ferguson - no thank you. They are short, wide, fat, like pork sausages - a GG - I think - bain of my life.
I want to wear dainty shoes, but can just about manage a wedge sandal.
LOL at Lemonaids's "two-tone mushroom and burgundy".

I'm just looking in because I have short and fat feet. Can I make a recommendation, for people who are similarly afflicted - never ever wear Birkenstocks. Ther are literally wider than they are long!

MuddlingThrough · 27/06/2007 12:51

And don't forget the plight of our children-with-fat-feet, who spend time choosing the coolest shoe in the shop only to be told that all there is in their width is a pair of green trainers with images from three spiderman films ago.

Awwww, thanks you lot! I only just got back on the computer! I'm going to investigate the options but I think time is against me. Best option is probably going to be whizzing over to Schuh. I will report back as to what I have found if I get there!

Oh yes, Vans, have had them in the past and they were fab

Bit outside my price range these days though unfortunately.

Oblomov · 27/06/2007 13:39

Yes, I have bought from shoetailor - not helpful , in your situation, re needing them quickly, but they are cheap , and eee 's. Although many of the styles look like they would suit dot cotton, but some of them are quite trendy.

bananabump · 27/06/2007 16:10

I saw some vans style skater shoes in Diechmanns for £9.99 t'other day, and I know loads of cheaper shoe shops do similar ones, but you have to check the mens sections a lot of the time. The mens and womens vans are so similar anyway it doesn't really matter as long as they look good!

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 28/06/2007 17:18

Got some for £5 from stead and simpson, converse lookalikes, very comfy!
