Can you get curtain tracks or poles that are L shaped?

Where do I start to look?

Have a very long window, about 4 metres or so, then a 90 degree turn and a shorter window to the side (about 90 cm) What on earth do I buy? Also will I need to buy two sets of curtains to fit?

Currently have a track that is bent around. Curtains are not wide enough to pull all the way around. There is always a gap at either end. Plus I don't like them - inherited when we bought the house.

Please help!

Dunelm mill do a bay window curtain pole ... you could just sue 2 side of it, and leave out the 3rd....

do you mean that if you had the curtains open the small side window would be completely covered?

you can buy flexible curtain track on a roll that'll go round any shape corner or bay.

I used to have this setup in a Docklands flat with a huge right angled window onto a balcony and got a custom made L shaped track from Heals - it took both inner and outer curtains and pulled all the way round from one side. Got the curtains made to measure from there too. Expensive but worth it. Those were the days!

Maisym - yes I suppose if it is a very wide curtain then the small window might very well be covered by the curtain as it is pulled back. Maybe I need a smaller panel just to use on the side and then pull one side of the bigger one into the corner

phatcat, that sounds ideal but I am working on a budget, as I have to get matching ones for the french doors at the other end of the room.

I have been puzzling about it for a year. Thinking of visiting John Lewis at weekend for some advice.

we had john lewis come out to measure and price up our bay for a pole, it was a ridiculous ammount and we took it no further. in the end i think dh found some plastic tracking stuff he could bend to shape in a big DIY store. and we found a local person who was studying sewing and made us some curtains with material from the market. I was disappointed not to get a pole, but they did look nice and were much more in our price range.

Yes I think that is what we will end up doing too. But hoping to get some advice out of them first

sorry maise / cece, had to post and run last night - we've got one of the bay window poles in our bay - they're a bit fiddly to put up, but I can't see that the small window would be completely covered if you put up a thin-ish curtain.

Also, have you perhaps thought of putting up roman blinds? A friend of mine has much the same arrangement of windows in her front room, and they've used blinds, and they look fab!

Good luck with getting the advice!

cece · 22/06/2007 16:15

Thanks for getting back to me. DH has suggested blinds but he thought the wooden slated ones. But I quite like the idea of Roman blinds.

Think I will go and investigate what is available in John Lewis and then take it from there.
