Want to get a few fun bits for DS1 for when I am feeding his baby brother (who is a slow feeder...) Was thinking maybe some threading beads/lacing animals perhaps?
Have some vouchers for ELC so any suggestions for there would be great!
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions, its weird what toddlers like, often not the toys you buy but the odds and sods around the house!
Yes am breastfeeding which is the prob as its not long since DS1 gave up...
Scary times indeed...

Pbabble, excuse my ignorance but what exactly is a funpod?
Your post reminded me to dig out the colouring books too, thanks!

Pannacotta, was in same boat as you a few months ago (my ds's are 3.6 and 6 mos now). DS2 fed for 30 mins a time easy, was a bit of a nightmare at times so i reallly do sympathise and know exactly what you mean about getting through the day! My ds was a little older than yours is now, but I found he really liked playdough (from ELC) along with some tools that he could create stuff with. I also used to set him up with some card, glue and glittery things (or just stickers and icicle sticks if you're not game for glitter) and he'd do a collage. Still goes down a treat. Brio train set great too. Tea parties with teddies, you can buy a great tea set at mothercare for £5 & he can bring you a cup.
Baby toys are also of huge interest, found that amongst all the 'big boy's I know. If you put them in baby's basket, no doubt he will be more intereste in them (sneaky, but it works).
I hate to say it, but if they feel like they're being palmed off with something whilst you're paying yet more attention to the baby they don't tend to fall for it much, well mine still doesn't. The way you sell it might pay dividends iykwim?
I thought the tantrums and jealousy would never end, but I could see things getting better from 4 months and now it's pretty good, he's accepted his brother & the feeding only takes 5 mins so not a problem. But blardy hard at this point!

Thanks babysick - sorry for abbreviation!
Lots of great advice, DS1 very aware of how things are sold to him and yes he has found some baby toys hidden away and took great interest so will try this tactic, bit like playing hard to get with boys isn't it?!
Will put playdough on my list too, fab idea.
And yes stickers are def a hit, there are loads of mini Bob the Builders stuck on walls all over the house

Playdough world's best invention IMO! And so cheap at ELC. Made my own but complete rubbish. The wooden tools they do went down quite well as well, they make nice patterns.

My DD 2.2 loves Fuzzy felt, she spends hours with it. ELC do a version where you can make funny faces, she also has a Balamory set and a farm set. they are all a big hit.

sticker books

a box of toys that he is only allowed to play with while you're feeding (change the contents every few days)

play Simon Says with him

dancing to a nursery rhyme tape

box of buttons and beads and different sized cups

reread some fairy tales so that you can remember them and then tell them to him (not read)

try and persuade the baby to have feeds at meal times...

Oh and "magic painting" (painting book where the colours show up when you paint with plain water). Tesco do them. And a non-spill pot (ELC) to put the water in.
