Which Family tent to buy for novice campers?

Hi, we are hoping to go on our first capming holiday with dd(3) and ds(1) we are in the market for a good family tent - budget up to £450. I was keen on the Outwell Georgia and the Vango Diablo but have read about them being difficult to pitch as not 'pitch in one' tents, plus hard to allign the sleeping pods. I have seen most of the Outwell range and like the Montana 6 for what looks like ease of erection ( tent porn?) but I'm not certain the bedrooms are big enough as will have DS in a travel cot and dd in ready bed and I would prefer tehm to be separate. I have seen teh Nebraska today and like the internal space , especially the porch and size of bedrooms but it does look more difficult to pitch.

So all you experienced campers and tent addicts, what would you recommend? We will only be camping in the UK and prob will start out weekends only first.

Well I was recommending the Vango Vista today - we have one and it's huge, has massive living space in the middle, is fairly easy to put up because it's a tunnel not a poddy one, and fab.

It has 2 separate 2-berth bedrooms + 1 big one for 4 (but with central curtain to divide); you can leave out one or more to extend your living/storage area. And it's been discontinued so it's dead cheap (at least £100 less than it used to be!)

WW that looks good and excellent price - do you have to pitch the inner first? How long does it take to pitch - not certain how long these things should take!

Um - sorry bj, it's that long since I've been there when that happened I can't remember. Hang on a tick, I found some reviews earlier today which mentioned pitching....

Can't find reviews now, just asked DH, you put up the main outer part first - he says threading the poles through is easy-ish but then getting the first 2 poles to stand up s the trickiest part.

Someone recommended a similar tent (diff make) on a thread I was on earlier, I'll look for that too.

Thanks WW - just reposted this under 'camping' thread to.
