Bio-Oil, anyone used it, is it any good...?

Hi, I saw this product advertised in Now Magazine - Bio Oil, the blurb basically says:
Bio Oil is a specialist skincare oil for the face and body which helps reduce the appearance of scars, stretch matks and uneven skin tone. It is also highly effective for aging and severly dehydrated skin...blah blah blah

Supposed to be around £8.95. Has anyone tried it?
I have a disgusting mass of stretchmarks on my post pregnancy pouch (ppp) and was wondering if there was anything non surgical I could use.

I've used it for about a year ever since I came across it on the Internet. All I can say is it's marvellous stuff for dry skin. I sometimes suffer with really dry, chapped hands and this is the only thing that worked for me. It's non-oily, absorbs really quickly and made my hands v.soft after only a couple of days (I applied it twice a day).It also really helped my nails get strong.

I've also used it on my tum in current pregnancy and my skin is v. soft (no stretch marks either but then I didn't get any with my first). However, I also used it on DH's forehead when he took a chunk of skin off in a swimming pool accident and it healed up fabulously - you can hardly tell there's a scar there.

Bio Oil is expensive but it does last for ages.
Hope that answers your question!

My mum has been using it for a few months now as she has very dry blotchy skin. It really has made a difference, and as Nottsmum says it lasts for ages as it's very concentrated.

Excellent thanks!
I may see if they sell it in Boots and use some of my points on it...Perhaps I should take before and after photos to see if there is a difference bleugh!

They must be having an advertising-fest as I saw this in a mag and bought some!! But that was only on Monday so I haven't had time to evaluate it yet. I got it for dd1's chicken pox scars. I was a bit disappointed to read that you have to use it before you develop stretch marks for it to be of any use, though tbh, as sm's are caused by the underlying skin tearing I can't see how a topical product can work. It smells good and if it works on dd I might send some to MIL whose skin is incredibly dry and paper-thin on her legs.

Suedonim - Has it helped with the chicken pox mark? As ds has one on his nose and I would like to get rid of it!!!!

suedonim · 18/08/2004 21:26

Not yet, but she's only used it twice, Blossomhill! I'll let you know when she's used it for a bit longer.

I buy mine at Asda chemists if that helps.
