Do people use baby powder on newborns? My mum used it on us when we were little but I’ve heard not so good things about it in the news. Can anyone recommend what the best body wash for a baby is too?

You're not actually supposed to use baby powder at all, even on your own body. My mum used it on me throughout my childhood but health visitors and news etc made me weary of using it. My daughter is 5 months and she gets a really bad sore neck from milk and bibs etc so I like to put a little on my fingers and rub it in once she's dry from having a bath. Asda do a product called liquid talc in the baby section and I love using it! It comes out like a cream and feels like a moisturiser but once it dries it feels like talc!

Other than the first wash you only need water on your newborn. Their skin is very delicate and 10 times thinner than ours.

I would not use talk baby powder or any other talc containing cosmetic at all. It naturally occurrs with asbestos. It is often contaminated by asbestos as a result, Claire’s in the US recently had to clear their shelves of kids make up containing talc contaminated by asbestos.
Child’s farm is very good, it contains no SLS.
