Stokke Xplory and Buses

Hello all pram-experts,

Am thinking of shelling out for an Xplory as I love them, the choice is between that and a MaClaren techno XTR (dh's choice as FAR cheaper).

How do Xplorys fare on the buses (london ones in particular)?

Also are they an arse to fold up and store? I have quite a small flat so don't want it filled with pushchair.

Any recent reviews? I did a search but didn't find any bus using xplory owners (maybe they are all too rich).

Hiya

I have done London buses with an Xplory - it was fine. It is on the big side, but not as big as other rear facings eg the Quinny Buzz, but I never had a problem getting on or off.

As I'm sure you know if you've seen one(!) they don't fold up small so it's not like you can tuck it away in a corner when you're not using it. Ours lived fully erect in the hall or in the boot of the car. I can't pretend that it is going to be as easy to store as an umbrella fold buggy, but it will be so much nicer to use . I walked miles and miles with it round London and it was fab for that, and great to be able to talk to DS1.

Word of caution, though, I did have problems with it as DS got bigger. There's a thread on here somewhere with details I think...

allbuggiedout - cool name - I dreamt about pushchairs last night - thinking about them WAY too much, thanks for that info. That is exacty what I wanted to know.

Think I will got for a second hand quinny zapp to begin with, then buy a new MaClaren. I love the Stokke but need somehting that folds better.

oooh, i love my xplory- littlelapin will never speak to you again if you buy one though!!!

its true about folding- not the smallest, but worth the extra bulk! Never used on public transport as we live in the middle of ruddy nowhere! but i can highly reccomend the buggy itself- but be prepared to get stopped every three steps and asked what it is!!

AllBuggiedOut · 30/05/2007 20:00

Thanks - chose the name when obsessing about which double for the 2 boys Never did manage to find a satisfactory rear facing double sadly...

did you try the bertini twin? i loved mine! if i was doing it again now i'd have a first wheels twin elite!

AllBuggiedOut · 01/06/2007 16:47

Oh no, a friend loathed her first wheels twin elite. But I may check out the bertini twin if we have any more, thanks for the tip!

do they fold down in one piece?

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 17/12/2007 06:19

Can I hijack and ask if they are quite top-heavy? It is the only thing that bothers me about the design. Thanks
