Have been wondering the same myself. DD is 4 months and I think they are suitable from then.

Hi, yes. DD hated her baby chair thing and kept trying to sit up. She loved being so upright and being able to see all round her. It is also dead handy when I go to the pool as I can plonk her in it out of harms way while I get dressed. Also good for in the garden. Mostly she sits in it on the table while I get breakfast ready. She also sat up by herself quite early but not sure if that is related. I wouldn't be without mine. IF you do decide to get one buy from kiddicare as they are the cheapest by a mile, even cheaper than ebay where people go nuts paying over the odds for them. I got mine when dd was 4 months.

I have bought one for dd2 but wished I knew of them for dd1, who is now 2. My 5 month old loves it, she can sit in it on the table while we all eat and I can have her on the tables in the kitchen whilist I'm busy out there. You asked how long they last for, think its dependent on their weight, as it can be a bit tight around their legs, I know of a 7 month old whos legs are too fat, but he is really big. DD1 who is quite skinny also likes sitting in it and she fits OK.

Beware though, when my 5month old pushe/stretches she almost comes out of it, I'm sure when she is a bit bigger/stronger she probably will, so you cant leave them in it on their own.

But all in all I would recommend one.

I would have loved one for my kids but they weren't out then.

Ours has been great - got it when dd was about 3 months old and already quite sturdy and wanting to sit....until recently we used it on the table so she could share the family meal-time, and she loved being able to sit up and watch things going on - it's light enough to be easy to carry from room to room so baby can sit in it and watch you do jobs..now that she's crawling I occasionally use it to keep her in one place for a minute whilst I get on with something - she can wriggle and stretch quite far but hasn't 'escaped' yet (9 months).

(I also noticed that the ebay price is equivalent to shop price!)

love 'em. I use mine most when we're out and about in the car - sit him in it in the boot (lid up obviously ) and give him his snack. He can watch the world go by and is safely contained. He's 25lb / 16 months and still fits in it and hasn't yet worked out how to get out.

I got mine when DS was 5 months old and he loved it at first, however he learnt to sit by himself at 6.5 months and that was that, the Bumbo wasn't wanted any more! (I did still use it occasionally for feeding though)
IMO they are great from 4 months until they learn to sit by themselves, but that might not take very long... I'd borrow rather than buy one if you can.

4 months to about 7 to keep dd in, then she found out how to climb out, but she returned to it as a chair to get in and out of herself from about 1 year onwards

Samw here with this. Got one when DD was 4 mths as she was desperate to sit up, and it was great for me to be able to stick her in it and have her somewhere like the kitchen where it isn't really suitable for her to just lay on the floor, whilst I did washing, cooked etc.

I used it for feeding until recently, and still in fact use it for breakfast as we don't sit up at the table for that.

She's been able to get out of it since about 8 mths, but thats not really an issue for me, if I want her to be secure and out of the way now I'll stick her in the high chair.

Lastability? Well, I've caught DS1 (6) and DS2(4) sitting in it to watch the TV/ play games so I think she'll be using it as a chair for a good while yet! My only regret is that they didn't exist when DS1 was a baby!
