Marshmallows as an alternative to party bags

I remember seeing a link from someone on mn to a website that sold marshmallows. I think they were wrapped and on a stick, looked a bit like a flower arrangement - people were giving these out instead of party bags.

Would really appreciate it if someone out there knew what I was talking about and where to find them!

I remember exactly what you mean - but have just googled and am unable to find them.

However, I am making my own for ds's party. I have bought wooden bbq skewers. Onto those I am going to thread a selection of marshmallows and haribo type sweets. I then will then place them in a clear cellophane sweetie bag (bought a pack of 50 from lakeland for the occasion) and tie it up with a ribbon.

Easy peasy.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for wurlywurly.

Great idea hippipotami, I might do that too!

It was either Fio or Jampots.

I don't know if this is relevant to your guests but marshmallows aren't suitable for vegetarians. Hope you don't mind me mentioning it but many people are not aware (they have gelatine in)

We went to a party recently at which the going-home present was marshmallows with melted chocolate on top, plus a Smartie stuck on top. Several of these stuffed in a plastic Spiderman cup. The kids were very happy indeed.

think this is what you're after. Hope the link works

They're icky. And yeah, non-vegetarian, they have gelatine in them. (Like lots of party sweets.)

We use books instead of party bags. Cheap, easy, non-messy, and vegetarian-friendly.

SoupDragon · 24/05/2007 20:12

Go for books instead.

fillyjonk · 24/05/2007 20:15

second franny's post re vegetarians

also they are rank

aquababe · 24/05/2007 20:16

I gave my friends 1yr old books for their birthdays and they looked at me as if i had two heads kids liked them though.

bananabump · 24/05/2007 20:31

I love the idea! If you were a bit nifty in the kitchen you could even bake personalised gingerbread men for them to take home. Surely healthier than a bag full of chupa chups!

Vinegar · 24/05/2007 21:16

Yes that's exactly it beaniebabe-thanks so much.

We did books last year, so thought something different this year, don't think there are any vegetarians -thanks everyone.

Not that it impacts on your party but DS2 would be devastated to get marshmallows and would have had a complete Drama Queen meltdown as he doesn't like sweets
