How many miles are too many?

Have been looking for a new used car and have narrowed search to a Qashqai (2012, 60,000 miles) or a Honda CRV (2011, 73,000 miles) both of which would be under £6,500.
Other option is to push the budget to £7,500 and get a 2015 Nissan Pulsar with less than 40,000 miles.
Really like the Pulsar, and was impressed by spec and room in the back and boot, so would love thoughts from anyone who has one.
Would be more comfortable with the lower spend, but have had to scrap 2 cars (Vauxhall) with less than 80,000 miles on them so am a bit wary of higher mileage.
WWYD?
Thoughts on all 3 cars would be most welcome!

I would expect a Honda or Nissan to last better than a Vauxhall. My last Honda was still going when I sold it with around 125,000 on the clock. 75,000 shouldn't be too much on a well maintained modern car. A good modern car should do 200,000 miles, but you can be unlucky.

The key question is how well have they been looked after?

My Honda Civic drove as well the day I dropped it off at 90,000 miles as it did at 10 miles... company car but only used by me and with full Honda service history so there should be no reason for it not to.. an ex hire car or something might be a different story..

Both the higher mileage cars have full service history with the dealerships they were sold from. They’re in immaculate condition. Thanks for the replies - very reassuring!

We have 2 diesels. The younger is on about 140,000 miles (Mondeo). The older is starting to get tired at 210k. Both are 2009/10 ish...

which engine is in each of the cars you have narrowed it down to?

Have you considered a Suzuki Baleno or Fiat Tipo?
Both spacious like a Pulsar but you will get a newer one for the same money as the 2015 Pulsar.

Had looked at the Baleno but couldn’t see one for sale in our price range, they were £9000 or thereabouts. Have been advised against anything French or Italian by so many people, I’m now scared to look at them. Do love the current Fiat styling though... my first car was an old Cinquecento, the boxy one, and literally everything that could go wrong went wrong with it.

Baleno used prices , especially 2016 models are artificially high on auto trader you should be able to negotiate a significant reduction on current 2016 prices. A pre reg 67 plate Baleno is not much more expensive than a 16 plate which is crazy.

The other car in this bracket which is both huge rear leg room and boot space is the Seat Toledo and the identical Skoda Rapid.
Both good cars provided you go with a manual petrol model.

High mileage with a full history every time.
