Wrap around vests for newborns

NoviceKnitter · 21/05/2007 15:39

I know I could find this pretty easily but suffering a week of research fatigue so if anyone has a quick and easy answer i'd be grateful... Thinking of getting some wrap around vests for newborn due in a month so we don't have to dress it over its head to start with. Any tips on good places to get these and if you think they're a good idea?

Thanks in advance

they sell them in a shop near to me called 'birth and baby' in eastbourne. i think they are great but a bit expensive, about £6 each.I think they have a website so you can order online.
They do sell some in kids H&M but i'm not sure if they are just plain type vests.

although they sound great to start with they are just as mush hastle as the over the head ones- and they have ribbons to tie them up.

I loved these for my babies when they were little, I bought mines in Mothercare

MrsBadger · 21/05/2007 15:59

Toys R Us but unfortunately 0-3 and newborn are out of stock so only good if the baby is weeny...

MrsBadger · 21/05/2007 16:01

also Baby RJ

Cut4cloth do lovely ones if you're planning to use real nappies, and they're fastened by poppers not strings.

I think I saw s ome in Mothercare the other day. Couldn't see the point myself - but now you mention the over the head thing...

Yes, I realised that from the thread, but at the time I was standing there thinking Why? Just looked like extra faff to me. But I was buying 9-12 months for a child who was fairly stiff-necked at birth.

NoviceKnitter · 21/05/2007 17:42

Blimey, anyone who sells them for under a fiver is sold out!

Not at all cheap but lovely -Green Baby do some in really nice soft cotton. And those nightie/footless things too which were mentioned earlier too......

MrsBadger · 22/05/2007 08:31

cheaper nightgown things
Toys R Us is awful and migraine-inducing to shop in in real life but the baby stuff on the website is pretty handy.

NoviceKnitter · 22/05/2007 18:11

My friend says French supermarkets are full of cheap wrap vesty things for babies. Tip for anyone planning a day trip...

On a different note, was passing Green Baby today and went in for a browse and saw they have bamboo towels. Mmmm, delicious... so soft!

mama22 · 22/05/2007 19:38

I found some L/s ones in H&M... and the only other place so far (tried John Lewis, boots) is www.greenbaby.co.uk

HTH

PO.P who have franchises in House of Fraser do them, absolutely beautiful but slightly on the dear side however

NoviceKnitter · 23/05/2007 12:00

Thanks everyone and thanks for your kind offer Flier. Think I'm going to get French supermarket hand me downs from my friend, plus have bought a couple of green baby ones to tide me over. Weird that places like John Lewis don't do these imo.

I might have dd's newborn or 0-3 ones from toysrus if you are interested. They're in fab condition, white, they're just tshirt vests not snappy vests iykwim.
