Does anyone know what kind of gearbox a Hyundai Automatic i10 has?

Also, any views on reliability etc?

what age i10?

The current i10 is a good car and has a torque convertor, this is the best automatic to buy and is very reliable.

The old shape (2008-2014) i10 also had a torque convertor.
However, it also came with 2 engines, a 1.1 and later a 1.2.
The 1.1 engine is best avoided.

Thank you @CarDad

It is for my nearly 19yo DD who currently has a Y reg Nissan Micra. She passed her test just over a year ago. I think DD and DH are thinking old shape and a 1.1 to keep insurance low/reasonable, but they haven't actually test driven one yet.

I'll pass the info on to DH.

Why do you say avoid the 1.1?

I haven't a clue about the technical side but I have had mine for years, never any issues. I absolutely love it, would definitely have one again, when it eventually dies. It drives itself, I just sit there (though it hasn't much acceleration.)

the 1.1 petrol engine can have issues, also its alot slower and less economical than the 1.2 petrol engine.

The 1.2 petrol engine has proven very reliable

Thank you both.

DH says they are in fact looking at 1.2 as he hasn't come across any 1.1s anyway. They will go and test drive one later this week.

make sure they stick with the automatic and not the manual

the manual in the 1.2 is famous for clutch problems, replacement clutches don't last much longer.

Definitely sticking to automatic! DD only has an automatic licence due to dyspraxia. Thank you for your help.
