Our Machine is broken , as it is 8 years ols I am wondering if we should not pay out to get it fixed and buy a new one.
Any recommendations for a machine , preferably a budget machine that is reliable, has a high spin (iykwim) and is economical . Also where you bought it.
Thanks- I may take a while replying as we are having real trouble getting on line.

We just replaced our old machine with a Hotpoint Ultima Extra - its great and very efficient apparently (DP says!!) - when you do decide what one you want though check on Kelkoo for the cheapest price - we saved loads not going to the high street stores and gettin git of of the web - although we had to wait a few weeks for delivery!!

Thanks twinkie - I am quite stressed at not having a machine and confess to using my neighbours whilst feeding their fish .
As they are back from their hols soon I am starting to panic.

Bosch, AEG, Miele - all of these are good so just get the bottom of the range (Miele still dear though but will guarantee for about 20 years according to John Lewis lady)

Depends where you live - I got my basic Bosch from Miller Brothers - interest free over 6 months - and I shopped around A LOT (Hi JanH )

coo-ee Tink, am right behind you!

Personally it's Bosch every time but AEG and Miele are good too. Will find a couple of links for you, colette.

Basic Bosch from Comet - v good price and free delivery, they are usually able to deliver in a couple of days and I like their website and have been happy with their service (everybody isn't though...)

Tinker · 11/08/2004 11:17

Oh, mine's 1200 spin speed - hey, I'm not bottom of the range for a change

JanH · 11/08/2004 12:14

Oh, they have that one too - it's another £50. Still on free delivery. There are some sites that sell them cheaper atm but with delivery on top they all come out about the same.

Is yours the 6kg load as well, Tinker? Mine's only 5 (4.5 even - not sure) - 6 must make a big difference!

Don't buy a Hoover. I was really pleased with my first Hoover w/m - lasted 10 yrs and lots of sicky baby washing. But we bought a new one (1600 spin) 2 yrs ago, and I've been very disappointed with it.

I don't have a tumble drier, so a fast spin is important to me.

But given the choice again I would pay that little bit extra and get a Bosch.

I would recommend Miele, ours is just over five years old now and has never been a bit of bother. We got it from either Comet or Currys (always get them muddled up), it was over £700 at the time but I have seen them since at around £500.

Thanks for all the reccomendations - have got ours fixed eventually hope it keeps going for a while. I asked the repair man and he also said Bosch so I think that is what we will go for next time. Thanks for the links , they will be a good shortcut .
