How does it work? Are they any good?

They are quite good for a quick clean around but...

they are expensive and you cannot refil the fluid bottle. They cost £2.99 to replace and I get through one a week. I think if I was buying again I would get the Dettox one which I think you can refil and use normal cleaner in.

HTH

Do you use them with water?

How dry do they leave the floor? I was thinking of getting a Dettox one and putting my wood floor cleaner in it, but would have to leave pretty dry.

I love the vileda snap on mop head covers, for laminate they are superb...
The flash one is a bit gimmicky MIL said and MIL complained it left lino all dull...
She is gospel on all things houseworky

StickyNote · 10/08/2004 12:54

How does the Vileda one work then Piffle?

CD not sure about the other ones but the Flash one has what looks like an enormous sanitary towel on it (which you throw away after each use), so it does leave the floor very dry.

Suffice to say that a pack of mop heads costs substantially more than a pack of sanitary towels, but I haven't plucked up the courage yet to substitute them!!

Definitely wouldn't buy the Flash Powermop - the pads cost around £3 for 6 and the refill bottle also around £3 so it is a very expensive way to mop. Also to be honest they don't clean the floor that well. I love gadgets but at the end of the day I think an old fashioned mop and bucket are the best.

I bought it and it has been a waste of money, it uses a bottle every 1-2 weeks, it uses 4 batteries and for some strange reason the button tfor the spray was very sensitive to begin with, now, a month later it hardly works. A piece of rubish...

londonmum2 · 10/08/2004 16:06

I bought one the other week and it works a treat! Not the best for hard-core (!!) cleaning, but good for a general clean.

Curious to those of you who bought the Powermop actually found its concept (what the product says about itself on labelling and advertising) appealing? It sounds like some people were not happy about the disposable nature of the pad, or the fact that it needs purchased refills. Or was the cleaning performance a disappointment or just poor value for money?

What I like about the Powermop is that your floors are always clean - and I have five messy children, so I am not delusional. Because the Powermop is always ready for action, you simply clean up the moment any mess is made, before it hardens and gets trailed around (and the older children find it easy to use for a special bonus.

Studies show that with conventional mopping, most of what you are doing is moving dirt around on your floor. With the Powermop, it's gone for good. And because the floors are left dry straightaway, it's very good for safety, especially with little people around.

DEPENDS on what you intended to use it for.

my adult brother is autistic, obese, prone to infections struggles with self-hygiene
we have careers come for his daily chores. So we bought a speed mop just for his bedroom only. In this case it is Ideal because:

•Easily keep in the room and doesn’t take up any space because No bucket is needed.

•Very time-effect, ready & easy to use, because the cleaning solution is in the pads. So it doesn’t need to measured, filled or mixed.

• the disposible nature of wet pad, means no maintence of equipment is required & ALMOST no risk of bacteria build-up.
WORTH THE COST

The pads do dry out fairly quickly, but are extremely convient for frequent day-to-day use.

and yes they can be costly if you do not buy in bulk
(Amazon - 96 wet wipes=£32.98)

therefore I recommend it only bathroom & kitchen floors & daily cleaning
