Girly Stuff for DDs Bedroom

Twinkie · 10/08/2004 11:16

Need you lovely ladies help again.

We are decorating a new bedroom for DD so she can have the bigger room and DS (when he comes along) can have the nursery - have got paint, carpet, stamps for walls and thats about it.

Have furniture but want girly stuff to make it special for her as it all should be done by the time she gets back from x2bs for a big surprise!!

Any suggestions - and don;t want to spend a fortune if it can be helped!!

I went a bit mad (but not financially) on dd1's room and turned it into a fairy princess bedroom. I bought lots of fairy wings etc. and put them up on the walls. I hung up lots of fairy and princess dress-ups around the room so that she could really interact with it. I put up cheap pictures of fairies. We put her dolls house in her room and all her girly soft toys. I got a fairy princess duvet set from a company called Treehouse who also do co-ordinating bits like rugs and bookends if you want.

You can use indoor fairy lights to really make it special, too. It's completely over the top but she loves it. I want to move in but she won't let me!

Treehouse is an Australian brand but I'm sure that they have stockists in the UK. We even managed to get some stuff in the Netherlands. Contact them via their website (OK, tries first ever link...) treehouse

I got the Twinkle Pinkle pattern. John Lewis also has some cute stuff.

We made dd1 (4) a dressing table by using an old side table, a little Ikea chair and then putting a big cheap mirror up, painting the frame pink and draping it with a pink feather boa. She LOVES it and is the envy of her friends!

Twinkie, I just had a Mini Marvellous catalogue through this morning in the post and it has loads of girlie bits and bobs in it that aren't on the BM website yet. I am particularly taken with the voile lampshades and little fairy castle shelves. They also have rugs and beanbags and stock the Treehouse stuff that Fabarooney mentions. Just thought I'd mention it in case you were still looking .

Matalan usually have some nice (and cheap) girly accessories - mirrors and whatnot. Haven't looked for a bit but they certainly had some last time I did.

Twinkie, for cheapness and effectivness, how about buying a whole load of voile and draping it over furniture??Also the cheap scarves with tassles you can get, few of those to use as curtain ties?

It looks really girly and princessy
