Teapot tea

I don't like teapot tea as it tastes all...teapotty. My teapot is clean as I rarely use it so it's not that. I prefer the fresher, cleaner unstewed taste from a teabag in a mug. Can you get a pot that makes it taste like this...or is this just a really bizzare post?

Hmmm - so what's with the teapot ishoos then ?

Berrie · 16/05/2007 20:01

Ah well, have just had some lovely cups and saucers as a gift and it seems a little uncouth to dunk a teabag in 'em!
I just don't like the taste!

Maybe you leave it in there for too long - I always pour mine quite quickly - once it's brewed - and can't taste a difference !!

I love Yorkshire tea - what tea do you use ?

It's a fine line between brew and stew I think !

I don't believe our teapot tea tastes any different TBH - just looks more civilised on the breakfast table and when we have guests .

Are you sure that it isn't the posh cups and saucers that make it taste different?? Tea tastes different from a china cup according to my FIL

Have not used the cups yet washersaurus so it's not that. Maybe you are right scatterbrain, I need to get the timing right. Trouble is, I like it quite strong but not stewed. It might also be the temperature. It's hotter straight from the kettle.
This really is a very silly thread!

This is practical stuff . Do you have tea cosy...an essential if you are going down the teapot route I feel

Berrie · 16/05/2007 20:31

No but I could find a woolly hat!

It is an essential I tell you . Stops your tea getting all tepid..blurgh

I have a teapot which is double walled, so keeps the tea warm, and has a plunger - so you let it get to the strength you want and then plunge so it does not stew. Is a bodum teapot I think.

Washersaurus · 16/05/2007 20:49

Oooooo hark at the Panda with her posh tea pot....LOL .

PandaG · 16/05/2007 20:51

DH bought it for me as a present from the DC - I never got to drink a cuppa hot when they were tiny, so insulated teapot was a great idea!

Berrie · 16/05/2007 22:11

Bodum teapot eh? Will look into it. Thought you said Boden teapot for a minute
Would hate to spend a fortune on a teapot and for the tea to still taste of...teapot tea...shudder
