Navman or Tomtom? Help me shop for a sat nav.

I'm thinking of getting one for DH for father's day. I was looking at HAlfords and they have a variety of tomtom and navman.

Any thoughts/experience most welcome.

Also, do you have to subscribe to a service, like you do for a mobile phone?

best_prices is a good place to find the best deals. Many shops will have a discount code on the bank holiday weekend making them cheaper!

We've got the Navman 520i which is excellent-easy to use and has never got us lost...yet.
