Where can I get a star chart?

I think dd is now old enough to understand and hopefully respond to the idea of a star chart to try to get her to stay in her bed at night.
Where can I get one? Would there be one somewhere I could download and therefore re-use? Or maybe I just have to put one together myself?
Where did anybody else get their star chart from?

Thanks in advance ... CM

We made one, me and DS (just 3) together, from a sheet of his A2 painting paper and felt-tip pens. I think it made him feel prouder and more associated with it. He chooses which stickers to use, too - not just stars. (currently Ant-eater stickers!)

Mothercare sell one.

If you want one truely personalised though I suspect you'd be better making your own.

There are some on this site too. The large ones are £4.99

Didn't a Mnetter have one that she emailed to people? I was going to ask the same thing cookiemonster. I can't remember who it was. perhaps you could do a search of the archives and find out? I will later if you haven't found it by the time I log on for my evening session!

Have a look at this site ( sorry link did not work) go down to picture charts. We use the flower chart with our DD she places stickers on each flower she really enjoys them. Do have a look around the site lots of good charts and things you can download

CookieMonster, we don't use star charts all the time, but if I feel like getting the children to really make an effort with being good and not arguing at the breakfast table I just say, let's make a star chart and you can design it....if you are good and you do something without being asked you get a star and after 10 you'll get a treat...I give them A4 paper, lots of colouring pencils, glue etc and they paint a picture,,,tbh if I let them make one it makes them more inclined to do things because they've had an input...it's not all neat and lines and things but is pinned on the fridge and they get black marks if they do something wrong...imho why spend money on this just get your children to do it and they might actually try to be good for the treats (could even write at the bottom of the star chart the reward they get for being good....like a trip to the local oasis swimming pool, making paper maiche/painting pictures with them.....definetely would never buy one just make your own, far more fun and less costly...

I used to make star charts for the children i used to nanny for, they used to help me to make it.I feel it really did help the younger child,3 years at the time to eat her tea up and to behave better at tea time.If they had five or more stars by the end of the week they could have a small treat.

M&S are selling them at the checkouts! We have an educational supply shop near us (Teaching Trends in East Finchley) which has all this stuff and more, there must be more shops like this.

pepsi · 09/08/2004 21:43

I got ours from the Great Little Trading Company, I think it was £9.99, its a wipe clean and comes with some stars and some reward vouchers and has enough space for 3 children. I would recommend it.

Paula71 · 09/08/2004 22:53

The BBC do a good print out one here

You could print that one out as often as you want. Alternatively you could design your own to be printed out using colours and pictures she would like.

woodpops · 10/08/2004 08:15

I brought one from M&S last week. DS thinks it's great. It's just like an advent calender, when ds is good he get's given a star and then he can open one of the doors on the star chart and get a chocolate. They're only £1:99 as well which doesn't break the bank.

CookieMonster · 10/08/2004 08:47

Thanks everybody for your responses ... Paula71, that's exactly what I was looking for - something quick and easy to download and print cos I'm a bit lazy and very unimaginative!
Am going to print it out this evening and start tomorrow ....

Batters, Bless her. Sounds like she's got her head screwed on!!!!!

Blu · 10/08/2004 10:52

LOL Batters! and LOL again. I love that

Reminds me of my 3 year-old common-law-part-time-step-daughter a long time ago. She had been taught to stop still when we shouted 'stop' - but ignored it when tearing towards a slippery slimy jetty. Catching up with her I did the whole get down to her level and talk seriously thing to say she should have stopped when I shouted.
'But Blu' she sighed, with utmost patronising patience 'if I stopped I wouldn't get there'.

ELC have got a new one out in their latest catalogue. I haven't seen it, but it's magnetic and looks good. ELC magnetic reward chart

supermumsam · 16/08/2006 14:09

Found some good magnetic reward charts on ebay, as ELC had sold out. Take a look.
