Baby rocker seats

Need advice on a baby rocker seat to be used inthe house from about 1 month up. We didn't have one for DS (would put him to sleep on the sofa or he'd sit in his car seat) but DD doesn't like the car seat and am worried DS will knock her off the sofa accidentally.

I need somewhere safe i can put DD down and where she can be comfortable enough to drop off to sleep for a nap.

any recommendations? are the vibrating ones any good?

We had a Chicco one which could be sat up/laid down in a few different settings. It had a head hugger too. DD loved being in it and we sed it every day from her first coming home to being about 5 or 6 months old.

they are brilliant for sitting them in when weaning. We used ours for ages as dd was still too small for high chair.

We had a Mothercare basic one that could go at different heights (almost flat up to upright) It was great and we certainly got our moneys worth. Also great as a feeding chair before we got around to buying one. I wouldn't waste money on a vibrating one though.

I was bought a M&P one. It does virbrate/bounce and plays tunes, birds tweets and a heartbeat sound. The vibrate was good and we used it alot but the bounce wasn't worth using. I also used the heartbeat as well. It washes really well, has a head hugger and a toy bar (removable). I still use it now at 8 months for breakfast time. Best bit was it goes completly flat for travel. Think it was £34.99.

We got a mothercare one and was very helpful, specially because DS had reflux and couldn't be put in a horizontal positions for an hour after his feeds.

It may be irresponsible on our part but on those few nights when he woke up and couldn't get him back to sleep, we sat him in the chair besides our bed, turn it on and it allowed us a very welcomed rest. We got rechargabel batteries for it (not because it eats lots of them but because we constantly forgot to turn it off)

cosatto one is great, jane do a nice one I noticed in john lewis this afternoon...! i wouldn't go for a vibrating one because you could end up with a child that needs constant rocking etc to go to sleep which would be a disaster. I've never felt the need for a rocking one with any of my 3. just go for a padded one that doesn't have to hideous a pattern on its upholstery and that goes from flat to quite upright sitting. and that you can rock a bit with your foot.

We got the Winnie the Pooh vibrating one- put ds in and switched it on and she hated it. We put her in it without the vibration and she was ok. Used to keep it in the bathroom and it was really handy when I was busy in there and then moved it to the kitchen when I wanted to wean her. Had to sellit when ds 5 months though as she used to try to sit up and nearly toppled out of it a few times. a friend of mine still uses hers with her 11 month old son though. I honestly wouldn't waste money on the vibrating one- what I did find to be an absolute godsend was the swing you can buy. we got the fisher price one and it kept ds occupied for hours, especially as she would not go in her moses basket- very fussy baby
