Is there anything to carry older babies around in? I have a baby bjorn but I think he may be getting too big for it, and also DH says he would prefer something not on his front... is thee anything? Thanks x

I had a huggababy ring sling and an ergo - didn't get on with the ergo..never got the hang of getting dd onto my back without the comfort of a sofa behind me for her to fall onto, and no good for picking up/putting down to walk every 10 mins which she insisted on.
Loved the ring sling, especially for toddling age. Used to carry ds in it when he was well over 2 and a half, whilst pushing dd in the buggy.

Another problem with the ergo, (just remembered) is that I am large chested and there is a clip between the shoulder straps, across the top of your chest, which frankly made me look ridiculous and I was really embarrassed...so wouldn't recommend for those large of norkage.
(I do seem to be the only ergo owner in the world that didn't get on with it though)

Big Mama Slings has an advice page which I used. The woman who runs it is really good at getting back to you quickly...I promise she's not paying me!!!

Marmitemad (great name BTW) I reckon your best bet would be a short wrap, you can use a torso carry until she is quite old and wrap her legs round your waist. It isn't very comfy with a heavy baby if you are bending but hopefuly that won't be an issue for you.

ohh, milarke - someone else who tried an ergo and doesn't like it - be my friend - the ergo-lovers normally beat me up for saying bad stuff . But since I have A Friend ... I tried it on my back AND front and both me & dd hated it - my big-baby-wearing-mate said it's cos I'm titchy - no over-norkage here, sadly...Lots of people rave about em.

Quootie - actually, haven't actually tried my ring sling on my back yet - didn't read OP very well - dd sits so comfortably on a hip I couldn't be arsed to figure out anything else (sasaslings hire too - I'm not on commissions either - although I bloody well should be, the number of times I've passed on their website details!!)

I have a Kozy Carrier for sale if you're interested.

It's lovely - very comfortable and easy to put on/take off.

Have only briefly scanned thread so apols for repeating. We have a hippychick hip seat which is perfect for a toddling child as they just sit on your hip on it and can be put down to walk easily. It isn't hands free though. We also have a littlelife ultralight which is their basic carrier. dh has used it with ds2 and previously with dd until she was just over 2 and it was fine for days out. Will have to come back and do links later as school run beckons!
