I have been doing some research on a next stage car seat for dd(10mnth) as she is soon going to be out of her first one.
I have read the which report and they seem to think the Maxi Cosi Priori XP is a good one. Has anyone got one and what do you think of them?

Also what is the difference between the SPS and XP. I thought the XP also had side protection so am getting rather confused here.

Hi

I've got a Maxi Cosi Priori (basic model b4 the XP came out) and I would highly recommend it. DS1 loves it! It is very sturdy, easy to fit and hardwearing. I washed the covers at the weekend and they look almost like new. DS1 is soon to move to the next stage carseat to make way for his younger brother, who is outgrowing his rear facing seat!

I've got a copy of the Maxi Cosi brochure (as I'm doing research on the Maxi Cosi Rodi) and I think, reading the blurb, that the difference between the XP and the SPS is that the XP has a lever (with child lock) on the front of the seat, which further tensions the seat belt once the XP has been fitted. Both have side protection. The XP also appears to have improved frontal and side impact protection.

Both the SPS and the XP did well in the recent Which report on child safety. It's worth looking at the AA website as they also did a test on car seats. I'll try and find the links for these for you.

Can't fault the Prioi - excellent!

HTH (post again if you need any more info from the brochure).

Hi, I have an XP and am very pleased with it. It's a very comfy seat and easy to fit (the XP has a seatbelt tensioner to make sure it's extra secure). I particularly like it because it's so easy to move between our two cars. I bought it from Kiddicare and think it was about £95. HTH.

thanks. I think we'll definitely get one. The tensioner sounds like a good idea.
I am also glad that they are easy to move between cars. Our current one is quite a pain.
