Ford B max - big enough for 5 + large dog??

What do you think?

I really did not like the S Max I recently test drove and it's just too massive.

I have 2 (massive and growing) teenagers and 2 younger boys who are also threatening to keep growing Grin, there's little old me and The Hound (a greyhound).

So, would we get away with a B Max??
Any experiences much appreciated Thanks

How about a VW touran? I have the 7 seater but never have them up. The dog fits in the boot with a pram. Only down side is the boot space is non existent when you have all 7 seats up. You can get a 5 seater version that carries a spare wheel instead of the 2 rear seats.

A Grand C-Max is quite flexible, but the boot isn't that big. If you are using the rear seats they wipe out the boot space completely. 3 big lads in the second row of seats might be challenging.

If you just need to seat 5 + dog, maybe 2 + 2 + 1 would work. with half the boot used for a seat and half for the dog. Definitely check the rear headroom, front headroom is generous, rear headroom less so.

QuetionableMouse suggested an Octavia estate. I would second that. We ran a mark 1 Octavia estate for 8 years and it was very good, but you might find the rear legroom in the mark 1 Octavia too little for tall teenagers. The mark 2 is supposed to have more rear legroom.

Are the younger 2 still in high back boosters?
We ended up having to go with the S-Max as it has 3 full width seats in the back. We struggled with a lot of other cars as once the boosters were in, there just wasnt enough space for the teenager (or me).

I was going to suggest VW Touran too. It would fit you all in with a big boot for the dog. Ours died a death & we replaced it with a Ford estate - love estates but not sure you can’t get 3 separate seats in the back row so depends on how amenable your kids are to close proximity. I have 3, 1 in a car seat & 1 in a booster & it’s fine for us.

The two younger ones are just on simple booster seats, and that will soon come to an end too I think. So fitting car seats is no longer a priority.

I have to decide whether I am prepared to spend more money for a VW/Audi/BMW etc or stick to my budget and go for a less prestigious brand.

You're not losing anything by buying a Skoda (or Seat). Most of the parts are the same. I've had three Skodas and driven many many miles in them.

We have an S Max. It may look big, but parking is a doddle.
I think the C/B max would be too small. You get three good sized seats in the back of the S Max, and huge boot space for the dog, or two extra seats for additional passengers.

I've just replaced my touran as was too big for us...family of 5...and have got a cmax...loads of room in that doesn't seem much difference to the touran
