I saw on another thread that Emmaljunga prams are highly rated and very well built. I'd really like to get something along those lines but not sure if they are the true 'king of prams' or if there's another that's better / just as good?
I shall only be getting a second hand one whatever, but just after opinions as the best I've got ATM is an old Pliko with a Navetta, and I like air tyres plus something a little less wobbly iykwim! Something you can really rely on, too, as we haven't a car and walk everywhere (good shopping basket essential!)
Thanks - any suggestions welcomed!

i love my mamas and papas 3 in 1 ultima

you can get them ridiculously cheap on ebay (like £150 for good condition)

mine cost over £500 just over 4 years ago and have been used loads (most days for several of those years)

the carrycot is so cute, you can fix the carseat onto base really easily

not the trendiest but very well made IMO

I loved my Bebe Comfort (until somebody stole it). They are sturdy, nice air wheels, good shopping basket. We too did not have a car back then (4 years ago) and I walked everywhere with it. Until it got stolen it still looked almost new, and that's with it having been out flying, through mud and sand.
My sister had an Emmaljunga. It is a Swedish brand and very expensive. They do have good shopping baskets, but make sure you get one of the big sturdy ones. I felt that the lighter ones were just too light sometimes, and hard to get up over a curb. She loved it to begin with but after 2 years it looked scuffed and she regretted getting it.

Thanks Girls, interesting stuff...what was the Bebe Confort, Maisemor? I've only seen the Elite I think it's called which hasn't got the air tyres - off to search ebay for BebeConfort!

also have a look at the Bebecar Stylo or Stylo AT, which have the huge advantage of a steerable front axle, and the Silver Cross Sleepover, which is often on ebay for v reasonable prices.

So sorry, I can't remember. We didn't keep the papers after it was stolen. It was one of those good sized prams, that could be lifted off and replaced with a buggy input. Good robust size. 4 wheels, air tyres, big shopping basket. I can't seem to find it on the website, as it won't let me see the left side of the menu, on either the french, english or anyother language option.

bertini- absolutly the best prams in the world imho- outdoes anything i've ever had inc xplory, silver cross and emmaljunga!

flightattendant · 09/05/2007 19:16

Which Bertini, nearlythere? Just been offered one on Wanted section. It looks smashing but I had the Shuttle once and it was terrible - couldn't steer it backwards, handle would slip out of its holders when going up a kerb etc.
So hoping this one is better? ! It LOOKS better...

I have an emmaljunga twin pram, and I love it. It is so luxurious and comfortable for the twins, and a dream to push on long walks. Plus I can see the dts and chat to them as we walk along. I haven't had any real problems with it apart from a wheel nut breaking, and I managed to get a spare for a few quid. Every scrap of material comes off regularly and goes through the machine, so it looks like new once I give the frame a scrub too. I would highly recomend one.

nearlythere · 09/05/2007 20:53

i had a shuttle and never had an issue with it but sometimes you get duds! The 905 range/sommerville traditional type are the ones i meant, but anything that has articulated steering has probs going backwards- but you learn to deal with it!

flightattendant · 10/05/2007 06:59

Thanks NT - and Kellysmum - I did like the build quality with the chuttle, it was just the handle that got to me in the end! (I think I saw once on a review that there were sometimes issues with this) but otherwise was a lovely buggy, and ours was secondhand when we got it!
Will think on't...
