Can you still get micromachines, and lego racers? (micromachines raced around a dining table, laid for dinner, and fell off the edge - good fun) (I was always crap at it )

We have a great one called "RoadTrip" - it was the first game we bought and DS was 3 at the time. He is now nearly six and still plays it sometimes. And it was cheap too!

DS also likes "Cars" and being football obsessed loves FIFA 07.

And no an hour won't turn them into sociopaths. I bought a cheap kitchen timer and used to let DS play for 30 mins at a time. Then noticed he would naturally stop himself before the timer went off. Sometimes he plays a bit longer but mostly its around half an hour at a time.

games for 5-8 on amazon

My kids had Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, and games based on DIsney films like Toy Story are OK.

FiveFingeredFiend · 05/05/2007 13:29

crash bandicoot?

WendyWeber · 05/05/2007 13:34

There are loads of Spongebob games too, but all from merchants, not amazon itself. And Wallace & Gromit.

Oh yes - how could I forget Star Wars Lego? DS loves it.

KerryMum - do you think you would have to have seen the Harry Potter films to appreciate the game? DS hasn't seen them yet - he's not yet 6 so I waiting a bit.

mrsflowerpot · 06/05/2007 09:06

lego star wars, definitely. ds is 6 and loves it (actually so does dh).

the Madagascar game is good too.

get an eye toy and eyetoy play 3, it is fab and is very good exercise, they have to skip, jump and generally be active!

Agree with Charliecat, get an eyetoy camera and game. Keeps them amused for hours.

I've just bought the Disney eye toy game but haven't had any feedback from the dds yet. Apparently you interact with Disney characters.

The eye toy games cost next to nothing on ebay I've paid less than a fiver (inc p&p) for all ours and brand new as well.

lionheart · 06/05/2007 15:32

Stuart Little photo adventure is good fun too--has lots of different tasks and different vehicles to ride/drive/steer.

Second vote for Spyro and Crash Bandicoot. And I personally don't think a couple of hours a week will rot their brains. If they get plenty of fresh air and have other things to do during the week, don't see it as a huge problem. Wasn't there a study that said that gaming in small amounts improves co-ordination?

Twiglett · 06/05/2007 15:40
rantinghousewife · 06/05/2007 15:44

Twiglett, raise you, your recycled stare for improved co-ordination

Budababe · 06/05/2007 20:46

Mellowma - totally agree - it is FAB bargaining point for naughty behaviour!

Evil - moi? Mai oui!
