I had a basic whirpool that was great around £200 but what I did was buy the extra insurance which meant they came out and fixed it FOC for 5 years but you'd need to find a bit more money for that. Know anyone who is a subsriber to which?

kittypants · 02/05/2007 20:59

no?why?

just thought they may be able to find out whoever they have recommended recently. White goods are only designed to last for 5 years with average use - go and see what is on offer in places.

You want a Bosch, kp. There have been 2 washing machine threads in the last couple of weeks, hang on and I'll link.

WendyWeber · 02/05/2007 21:08

Ok, this one and this one

And there is a machine at £250, here , although I don't know how long delivery is from that site. I'll have a google and see if anyone's quicker.

WendyWeber · 02/05/2007 21:17

£218 (diff machine, slower spin and no time display, but that really doesn't matter that much - it still has a 6kg load which reduces the number of washes you have to do)

oohh thanks,i'll show dh when he gets in,not that hed ever use it but if i dont show him he'll sulk!
5 years is that all?ours is 5 years but think with doing 3 loads a day its done well!

No, a Bosch should last longer than that, and shouldn't need the extended guarantee either. My old one did, I don't think I was quite up to 3 loads a day (no nappies for start) but still did prob an average of 2 a day.

err... I say tricity bendix. Made by electrolux - so the build qua;ity of a zanussi - nice price - cheap to fix - do well in reliability surveys

WendyWeber · 02/05/2007 23:10

True, Tricity Bendix does come top of the Which reliability report, but only 93 people had them - Bosch came 3rd with over 2000, and TB weren't mentioned in the "recommend to a friend" bit - Bosch owners tend to be evangelical

Kif · 02/05/2007 23:14

my MIL recomended them - though she said she'd had 3 Bosch and the last two weren't a patch on the first 'dream machine'.
