I had it and quite liked it. Just depends on how big your age gap is, how tall you are and how big your car boot is as while it folds like an umbrella stroller it is longer. I had a 2.2yr gap and it was great for that gap. However when I got pg with DD2 I knew we would only have a 12mth gap so it wouldnt have been as good for that as both the girls needed to sleep etc.

mustrunmore · 01/05/2007 20:26

I really loved mine because it was so compact... until I got the phil and teds, and saw the real difference in pushing. Ds1 was 2 1/4 when ds2 was born, and the marco was really heavy with him in, and hard to manouvre. You cant push it one handed either, unlike the p&t, which I can now push with one hand while holding ds1 walking on the wall from nursery with my other hand! And the back seat is now used for groceries!

Pannacotta · 01/05/2007 20:28

But why is the P&T so damn pricey?!
Want to get one as our gap will be 2.5 yrs but they cost sooo much for sth you wont use for that long, even used ones on ebay...

mustrunmore · 01/05/2007 20:32

I thought that, but actually, I cant see the point in going back to a double now, so I'll get another 1.5 years out of it, on top of the year we've already had. I guess it depends on your lifestyle, but as we dont have a car, it makes all the difference having something lovely to push (30 min to nursery) and with tons of room to put shopping. We also have a few friends with younger kids that go in the back seat from time to time when I've got them/they visit.
I'm sure there was one on the for sale boards for £100 the other day?

Pannacotta · 01/05/2007 20:42

There was one for sale for £100, I missed it by 5 mins!
Will keep looking...
Btw, is there anywhere to put shopping if you have both toddler and baby in it? When we had a demo in mothercare the girl didnt know how it worked and there is no obvious room for shopping (and handles not an option either...)

mustrunmore · 01/05/2007 20:48

You can get a suprising amount in the basket, the one in the back just has to watch his feet! If you get the pannier bags, they are very roomy, although they do make it a bit wider. I only ever use one of mine, and it has a permanent stock of nappies, wipes, snacks for 2 kids, drinks for 2 kids, bottle and powder , change of clothes for ds2.And you can still get a few extras in there too. You can but a hangbag for the back (offthe handle) but I always thouht they must get in the way of the toddler seat headroom.

Nemo2007 · 01/05/2007 20:54

Agree about the P and T though thats the pram I got for the 12mth gap. The basket is very deceptive and can hold a couple of 6pints of milk, loaf of bread and little bits while being used as a double.

mustrunmore · 01/05/2007 20:58

Yep, all that, aswell as the raincover

Pannacotta · 01/05/2007 21:00

Thanks and v sorry to have butted in on this thread, we were also looking at the Marco buggy but did wonder about weight...

mustrunmore · 01/05/2007 21:07

Weight of th buggy, or the kids in it?

Pannacotta · 01/05/2007 21:11

The buggy - 14kg or whatever it is seems heavy, prob with the marco is that no shops sell it so you can't try before you buy...
thought the P&T was ok weight wise having pushed it round Mcare when 37 weeks preggars!
My DS is heavy so not sure the MArco at 14kg plus him plus baby would be too good really...
Mustrunnomore would you def recommend the P&T above the Marco?

kb101 · 01/05/2007 21:15

great feedback thanks. it's a pain you can't try the marco before buying. a friend said the Jane Powertwin might be worth looking at too - any thoughts anyone?

OP posts:
kb101 · 01/05/2007 21:18

the marco weighs 12.3kg. see www.thekidswindow.co.uk/Selling.asp?product=2483&cms=88

Nemo2007 · 01/05/2007 21:19

I looked at powertwin and to be honest for the price you are better with the p+t as at least i can be used as a single aswell. Thats what I like about it as if I only have one of the girls[rare but has happened] then I dont feel annoyed at carting around a double pram.

mustrunmore · 01/05/2007 21:20

Yes, definitely
The Marco is very similar to the cossatto duo/duet (cant remember the actual name), which they do stock in some nursery shops, so you could try that one out as a guide.

Jane is lovely to push too, but is quite long. It's prob be a hassle for me on a bus.

Pannacotta · 01/05/2007 21:25

Thanks for the Marco link, just saw it is for kids up to 3 years only, so shorter lifespan than the P&T...

mustrunmore · 01/05/2007 21:32

Ah, but all those buggies always say up to 3 years. I'd ignore that if I were you!

kb101 · 04/05/2007 10:59

nemo2007 you mentioned how tall you are. hubbie is 6'3" so quite tall and i am 5'8". let me know what u meant re height. ta!

OP posts:
Pannacotta · 05/05/2007 09:44

Hi I know that the Marco Sky is meant to be good if you are tall, as the baby seat is high up behind the toddler seat rather than just further behind as most of the tandems are. HTH

kb101 · 07/05/2007 08:33

i've bitten the bullet and bought a phil and teds! kiddicare has a pretty good deal at the mo' on the P&T sport which beats mothercare etc and u get a free travelcot too! thanks for everyone's tips. good luck!

OP posts:
Nemo2007 · 07/05/2007 08:34

sorry kb did nt see your question re height I am 5ft8 and it was just right for me..however I do prefer the phil and teds

flightattendant · 07/05/2007 09:34

Panna, the P&T's are evidently going down a lot in price because the new 'Sport' version has come out. If you go for the ordinary E3 it should be less pricey...never seen a P&T go for anywhere near £100 on ebay until you said that!

Pannacotta · 07/05/2007 09:47

Thanks FA but no sign yet of E3s going down in price, was watching one on ebay which ended yesterday and it went for £300!!!!
Cannot afford/justify that, seems soooo expensive! Anyone know of good websites which sell the E3?
Kiddicare only doing the Sport version now...

kb101 · 08/05/2007 19:12

perhaps try putting a wanted ad on mumsnet? u never know your luck! also try gumtree.com - i typed in phil and teds in the search box and quite a few came up.
