I never thought i would buy my DD baby dolls but she loves them!!

So any advice on what the best brand is?? and do you pay for what you get? I really don't want to fork out £40.00 for a doll...

My dd REALLY wanted baby Benjamin for Christmas so Santa obliged! She also has the first one she received though (a plain old baby doll from anywhere-can't remember where i got it!), and loves it equal so i'd just go for the cheap one and leave a biggy for Christmas?????

Really depends what you are looking for ....

Some dolls do stuff like talk - Amazing Ally
Others are more baby-like - Baby Born

There's also Baby Annabel and Baby Benjamin ...

Actually Baby Born was the biggest hit with DD

Hulababy · 28/07/2004 21:32

We got DD Baby Annabel for Christmas and she was a huge hit, but she is expensive I'm afraid

Which doll depends on your requirements really. Do you want it to do anything in particular? And what size doll are you wanting?

DD has a number of dolls and loves them all. These range from beany bolls to small, soft bodied dolls - got a set with twin dolls for £4.99 in Argos sale - to the big, much adored Annabel.

i want anything that will make her wee in her potty!!!! I know there's not magic fix but to just perserve and patience ....

so i wondered if getting potty for her baby doll would work. i've seen the dolls that can wee and have potties but they're so expensive and can't really justify the cost. although have just brought a baby bath & potty from ebay ...

any thoughts????

Mothercare do a really good selection for younger children.

I love the idea of these dolls too, but at £35 each, i'll need to have a really really good excuse fro DH ... he thinks i spoil her with toys!!

Just reminded me, we got dd baby wee wee for Christmas (before Benjamin) and luckily tryed it beforehand. Did anyone see it????

You had to take off the nappy and then push the little baby boys penis up and it trickled out!!! Was not ver well designed and we thought it was inappropriate for dd aged 2 so sent it back!!!

(Had a good giggle though!)

Baby Annabel a hit with our dd too. She got her last year for her birthday (so she's a year old today) and still going strong! Initial outlay about £17 as she was in a sale (usually around £35). We only buy cheap newborn clothes for her though as 'proper' doll's clothes are v expensive. She does have other baby dolls, but this one is truly her favourite and she treats her like a new baby. Funny though, she doesn't switch her on much - just loves her as she is and doesn't need the sound effects.

crunchie · 28/07/2004 23:43

We just have lots of cheap and cheerful dolls TBH They don't actually have to wee, my dd's just pretend they do. The most expensive was at christmas from Woolies and she was £14.99, but came with 2 outfits and a highchair. Yes baby annabel looks cute, but I certianly wouldn't part with teh cash. £4.99 is about normal, although you can get great ones in ASDA for less. Perhaps look for one that comes with it's own potty I am sure I have seen those in ASDA or Woolies.

Bagpuss30 · 29/07/2004 10:56

We have a my first Baby Annabel for dd which was a present from MIL last christmas. They are about £15 from ELC I think and are just the basic doll without all the sound effects etc. DD loves her and pushes her around in her dolls pushchair a lot

Hulababy · 29/07/2004 10:59

LOL crunchie; not sure I would describe our baby Annabel as cute. With the moving mouth and eyes, and the sucking noises, breathing and babbling. It scares our frieend's DS every time he sees and hears it

blossom2 · 29/07/2004 11:05

Just found a 'drink & wet' doll from Argos for £2.50!!! what a bargain and is about 15inchs tall!!!

thank you all for the advice i think i'll leave the expensive babies for Santa!
