Where can I buy one of those children's sets that include toy drill, hammer etc?

Would be grateful for any pointers. DS is 4 next saturday and desperately wants one (his words!). I need one that actually makes noise and rotates (the drill that is) if poss.

TIA

a friend has a jcb one for her ds, I'm not sure where its from though - came with a whole tool bench etc...try googleing it.

DrMarthaMcMoo · 27/04/2007 19:36

ELC do one. I think you can get the JCB one in Argos.

rabbitrabbit · 27/04/2007 19:38

Thanks alot. Have looked on ELC but couldn't find one-will seach for JCB. Thanks

Thank you Armadillo! They're both great x

No, I can't find it on ELC either - but they do (or at least used to do - we've got one!) one in a tool box with a battery powered drill, hammer, pliers, screwdriver etc.

foxinsocks · 27/04/2007 19:41

rabbit, I have a black and decker children's workbench (think we got it from Argos) with lots of tools if you would like it. It would be secondhand so I totally understand if that wouldn't do for his birthday!

However, if you get stuck on the tools, I'd love it if you wanted some of ours (we have a chainsaw and a screwdriver that work...I think...haven't checked in a while).

Otherwise, if you want it brand new, I can recommend it. Many an hour has been spent by both ds and dd screwing the screws into the workbench, re-enacting scenes from the Texas Chainsaw massacre and sanding the walls!

rabbitrabbit · 27/04/2007 19:46

Fox thanks very much, that's a very kind offer. I'm going to search for a little longer (we went to view a nursery school today where he saw this particular meccano set and drill so I know exactly what I'm looking for-just struggling to find it!).

If I get stuck I'll let you know if that's ok? Thanks

Yes we have the ELC one but not on their website. Bought at Christmas and was 1499

This one looks good letterbox

rabbitrabbit · 27/04/2007 19:48

Incy you're a genius! That's exactly what I'm looking for.
Thanks so much, have a vodka on me

are you still planning on moving rabbit?

incy · 27/04/2007 19:54

Glad to help rabbit. My DS plays with his constantly (likes to hammer the table/drill other children etc etc) x

rabbitrabbit · 27/04/2007 19:56

I bet Incy! I'm half expecting to lose a few bits of plaster myself. Thanks again.

We are Fox. In fact we were out in the "new" area yesterday and today (and again Monday!) looking at nurseries/schools/houses-God, what I done!?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 27/04/2007 20:03

ooh very exciting - is your house on the market then?

rabbitrabbit · 27/04/2007 20:04

It is and hopefully we're nearly all done! I'm looking forward to it now to be honest, feels like a fresh start.

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 27/04/2007 20:10

good luck with it all rabbit!

rabbitrabbit · 27/04/2007 20:15

Thanks Fox. I'm still having fun though imagining that some of the women I see in the swimming pool park are you {grin}

tinpot · 27/04/2007 20:16

Ours is from Mothercare and I just looked on line and saw that they still have it. It's only 7.99 for the drill and tools. The drill rotates and when you press the drill bit it looks like you are actually drilling into something as the bit is pushed back into the drill itself. Save yourself a few pounds with this - it's a bargain (unless he wants the whole tool bench thing and then he'll be a bit disappointed with this one!)

foxinsocks · 27/04/2007 20:18

lol! I was there for about 2 hours one afternoon this week because I've finally, having lived here for 4 years, managed to get a swimming lesson slot for both children!

rabbitrabbit · 27/04/2007 20:20

Tinpot thanks, that looks lovely. Would you believe that I've jsut ordered the Letterbox one! Typical.

Fox-who did you bribe to get the lesson?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 27/04/2007 20:24

well...shhhhhhhh....actually, what's happened is poor dd (who can swim quite well) is in at a level too low for her but ds's level is OK. I either had to take the levels they had left or get nothing at all so out of desperation, I took what they offered! And, their lessons are an hour apart arrghhh so we end up sitting there for aaaaaaaages. It is very very tiresome.

They used to swim privately at the same time but dd needs to be in a bigger pool now so the private people couldn't fit us in on the same day any more and I just refuse to have to allocate another day to an after school activity (lazy me!).

I hate hate hate ridiculous schemes like this. Does my head in!

So, you've found a house to move to?

rabbitrabbit · 27/04/2007 20:32

Sounds like a plan Fox. Though I appreciate the how tiresome activities can be.
No, we haven't found a house (wish there was an "arggghh" emoticon) but no-one can say that I'm, not trying. Am happy to buy or rent initially as long as we can get moving.
Why is it though that now I'm moving I keep thinking "oh, I'll really miss that" when previously I didn't give it a second glance!
