Rear facing buggy

Was wondering today if one exists.

DD (5 months) is now getting grumpy when in her buggy - forward facing three wheeler - just as her brother did at the same age.

As babies think we disappear when we are out of their sight, it's not surprising. Surely it would make sense to have them facing their parents.

I've seen some quite old fashioned looking pushchairs which can be rear facing but nothing more 'modern'.

Just wondering...

i have a three in one pram/pushchair and the pushchair can be taken off wheels and it can be forward or rear facing. its mams and papas make

Most of the mums in my mums and Baby group have rear facing types and we don't care how old-fashioned they are coz we get to look at our gorgeous babies!!!

polly28 · 27/07/2004 23:48

I have a britax 3in1 that can be either forward or rear facing.it's not a three wheeler though so probably not modern enough for you.Got it in john lewis can't remember the name

maisystar · 27/07/2004 23:51

i'm sure you can get a quinny forward facing 3 wheeler.

BadHair · 28/07/2004 00:16

We've got a Cosatto Riga pram/pushchair which is either forward or rear facing. It's really comfy but hard to push one-handed when clinging to a toddler with the other.

Gem13 · 28/07/2004 19:36

Didn't mean to sound snooty. It's just that the ones I've seen have tended to be quite big, heavy looking ones and the new ones - not necessarily 3 wheelers - light, easy to fold, push, etc. are all forward facing.

I'm just surprised that none of the manufacturers have thought that people would like to look at their babies and that they might like to look at us!

I have an Emmaljunga rear facing buggy and pram. I had so many comments about it looking so comfy/like a big armchair
I picked it deliberately cause it looked old fashioned though. God luck

Mine is like johno's, a M&P 3 in 1 which can face either way. I love it. I have it facing me most of the time, I find it helps conversation with dd/ds.

Excuse me for butting in.....

When my 2 children were toddlers, many, many people commented on how nicely they spoke and what an extensive vocabulary they have. This has given them a head start at school (I believe) and they are both prolific readers and are doing very well.

I'm convinced it's because I had a 3-in-1 pram/pushchair from Mothercare (bought in 1995), and when they were old enough to sit up I had it rear-facing so that I could talk to them. We used to walk a lot and chat/interact all the time and I'm sure this has developed their speech faster than 'normal'.

I couldn't see the point of turning the baby away from me to watch a load of strangers! They can still see what's going on if they're going backwards, after all it's no different to sitting backwards on a train!

Good luck in your search!

we have mamas and papas. it can be forward or rear facing. it can be used as pushchair or lie falst pram for sleeping. very roomy and comfy. good sturdy basket. nice big wheels so easy to push.
(dont know which model is is as we got second hand)

gloworm · 29/07/2004 10:45

Carameli · 30/07/2004 14:40

Hi,

We've got a M&Ps Venezia. I got it as it could do all the rear facing, lie flat stuff. I also looked at the 3 in 1's which were also great but a bit too bulky and seemed too large for our hall. The Venezia is large enough as we have a narrow hallway. I have found it great and love being able to chat away to my DD.
I would recommend it to anyone.

hope this helps

wifeof - I was going to put a comment in about this yesterday butnever got round to it! A friend of mine is workign with a boy who has a learning difficulty (can't remember details) and she was telling me about some research that says that these days, children are not so articulate and points to the fact they do not face their mummies (and daddies) in prams anymore. It wasn't just the conversation with their Mums that they're missing out on but also the watching Mummy talk to other people.

Wifeof · 31/07/2004 13:10

It makes sense, doesn't it. I just don't believe that other people think about the impact of what they're doing with their children sometimes....

kbaby · 01/08/2004 19:28

Weve got a mamas and papas converse 2 in 1 which faces rear. I do know that mamas and papas have brought out a rear facing buggy called pilko something. It was new out this summer.

fuzzywuzzy · 04/08/2004 05:03

Have come very late in this discussion but I've just seen a three wheeler rear facing buggy, it's being sold on ebay and seems to be going for £10.50??? It's by Zooper and has a front swivel lockable wheel (always a bonus IMHO). What am I doing up at this hour
