Suggestion needed for new buggy

Hi All,

My partner and I are expecting our second in September. We need a new buggy to accommodate my nearly 2 year old (by the time our new one comes along) and our new arrival.

I was looking at the Tandem buggies but read somewhere that they were really heavy. I think that the side by side ones look so huge that I may have trouble getting around with it.

Plus do you know if they are suitable for newborns?

Thanks.

Usually are suitable for newborns - both seats on a side by side and the back one on a tandem. Tandems are quite heavy because the heaviest child is in the front. I found it difficult going up and down kerbs.

I've had both, and tbh I didn't really like either. They both have pros and cons which balance each other out.

Some of the side by sides aren't as wide as you think though. Why not go to Mothercare and try pushing a few around?

I have had pram with toddler seat, really good but only suitable 4 both when baby cant sit if they're as stubborn as mine! had side by side love mine suitable from birth really narrow (Mclaren Rally twin) Cheap at £120 new and so far have had for 5 months no probs, and my two are big kids even though one is 22m and other 8 mnths same weight nearly and the pushchair is doing brill!

Have you considered a Phil & Ted's e3?

CarGirl · 26/04/2007 22:34

I'd recommend a phil & teds E3 or the jane powertwin - because as 3 wheelers they are light and easy to push - pros and cons to both eg the powertwin is quite big folded but you can use the car seat on it to have baby rear facing. They both hold their value 2nd hand so you can sell them on after.

Thanks for the tips. My partner and I were looking at the Cossato Duet Lite as it looks nice and light and reviews say its easy to use and durable. Now with your suggestions I can drag my partner out looking for them.

Thanks again.

ANything that is not from Mamas & Papas - have had the most hideous trouble with the ones I have got from there and their customer service is shite - to get the third buggy replaced I had to threaten to chuck it through their store window after the frame snapped in two - they said I had misused it - after 2 weeks I think not!!!

Again thanks for the tips. Quite a revelation about Mamas and Papas there Twinkie1 thanks for that. Really surprised.

Thanks
