Am looking for my dream stroller. It has to be extra light, ridiculously EASY to fold and pack into the boot of my car and super-comfy for a 24 week old baby who doesnt want to lie all the way down but cant sit upright for more than a couple of minutes without crying. Someone recommended the Peg Perego Aria in Seabreeze to me, which I love for the cool colour, extreme light frame and really easy to fold and unfold mechanism BUT it's safety harness has a thing in the middle of the chair which i imagine would poke the kid's back and make it prety uncomfortable.

another friend loves the maxi cosi pushchairs. but i havent tested them out yet.are they any good?

have looked at mclarens, but they're not that well-padded and dont look too comfy.

graco seems to fit the bill, and much less pricier too.

any thots, anyone? has anyone faced any problems with graco edt? am toying with getting it, it comes in a great bright red colour and is 'cheap-ish'.

must say i love my graco metro sport! when i bought it ... (3 yrs ago now and still going strong with ds1)... it was the lightest one on the block! i'm sure there are lighter ones now... but it fits great into the back of our ca (ford focus) light enough to carry around... and super smooth for zipping around he shops.... (have pushed lots of other buggies and some of them are so heavy and cumbersome!) Graco gets my vote!

By the brands you mention, I presume you are in US or Canada?

The Peg Pergo brand in the UK is known as Mamas and Papas. We have Graco here too. Cant comment on Graco, but I had a Mamas and Papas (M and P)venizia when DD was a baby. A lovely comfy pram for a tiny baby but much heavier than the Aria. When DD was 6 months old we changed to a Maclaren (Try a Techno). If it seems not padded enough, then a fleece blanket or 'snugglytot' (like a fleece sleeping bag) is the answer. In the UK Maclarens are v popular. See the 'find the best' section here on mumsnet to find out what mumsnetters favourite strollers are.

i can't recommend the mamas and papas aria enough. it is the lightest that you can use with a young baby that can't sit up yet (5 kg) and folds easily. i've had it from birth and am really pleased with it, especially given the fact that compared to some of the others it was relatively cheap. i'm not sure if they make it anymore, it may have been superceded by a version of the pliko. hth

hi gingerbear, am in malaysia. wow, didnt know that pegs and m&P's were one and the same!learn new things every day! i dunno. i may just get the graco, it seems like a good buy tho i wish i could get the peg aria but that bl knob at the back really looks uncomfortable and seems like its right behind the kid's neck!they're touted as the rolls royce of strollers arent they, pegs/M&Ps?

Maclarens, i know ARE very popular, but i dunno if i'd want my dd to sit in one at this age. maybe after she turns one or is sturdier?

thanks gingerbear, bea.

anyway, keep em coming!

hi sophable, my post must've crossed yours. but dont u find that thingy at the back (part of the harness) poking into your kid's neck or back??i think my 'super-sensitive dd would just cry and cry and cry. But i LOVE the ARIA for its looks and foldability

sorry hazlinh

but I absolutely hated the Aria, it was the original model, so thiungs may ahve improved, but mine kept getting stuck when trying to fold/unfold, the zips at the sides kept getting undone so dd had no choice but lie flat!!
Also I found that dd would always slip downwards and didn't look confy at all. A friend of mine who bought it at the same time as me had the same complaints as soon as our babies could sit up we both moved onto different umbrella style pushchairs.

I also found the Aria difficult to push. We still have and I use it when my niece visits us and is a complete pain compared to other umbrella-type pushchairs.

I have 2 Graco's. A travel system thing (I think it's a Denver) and a little pushchairs in blue with rabbits and kittens on it. Both were really cheap (£40 for push chair and £160 for travel system, don't know how that translate in Malaysia), but both were really good and simple to pack down. DS was so comfy in the travel system and it has various reclining positions. It's a really cheap buggy that has the little car seat thing with it. Didn't do the 9 months we thought but still using the buggy part.

I can't recommend the Graco enough - excellent value for money and I have seen it in some nice colours. I wouldn't touch a Mamas and Papas one as everyone I know who has the travel system has then gone out and bought a different brand as they find the pushchair part too awkward to push. I think you pay for the name. The bouns of the graco is that if you get the travel system you can also use the car seat on their double buggy if and when you have another one.

I have a Graco metro sport as well and I'm very happy with it, as it is very light, and being so thin is still easy to get in the smallest stores and even in a packed cafe you can put it by the table and let your baby have a nap while you have lunch. It costed only £50, and I believe it was one of my best buys.

The only down side is that during the first month probably is not very stable (but thats of course because it's so light) but once your baby is sligtly older the problem disapears. It's not as flashy as a three wheeler but easy to use in buses, and folds easily (with one hand), and there's still more space for other thigs in the car boot.

thanks everyone. i suppose i was trying to convince myself that it was worth it forking out a fortune for a mamas and papas (peg perego!)siigh.
have decided to get what the baby and her mum REALLY needs- a practical, light, easy-to-fold, easy to manouevre, comfy GRACO! I'm getting the red graco EDT, and i found one for only 460 ringgit (roughly 60 ish pounds)!
