HELP - which mattress - too much choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just about to buy a single bed for DD1 (she's 4, if that makes any difference) but I have to chose a mattress as it doesn't automatically come with one.

So, I can chose between "Pocket Sprung and "Open Sprung" and then there's about 50 million varieties under each of these sub-headings. Okay, so I'm exaggerating, I think there's a mere 75 under the pocket sprung section.

I've never chosen a mattress in my life, has any got any thoughts on the matter (or, even better, will someone please just tell me which one to buy!!).

TIA!

I would go for the best you can afford as a good mattress will last longer and give better support. I have a hypnos orthopedic one from john lewis and is really good. Hope that helps.

when we were buying our own mattress i found the John Lewis staff to be extremely helpful. In fact, I think if you go on their website they have a list of things to consider when buying a new mattress.
Like chipo though, I would go with the best you can afford, unless your DD is still prone to bedwetting then maybe buy a cheaper one for now and put money away for a better one for her for a few years time.

sorry, I shouldn't have said 'still prone to bedwetting'. Your DD might never have wet the bed at all.

Thanks for your message McKenzie - and that's a good point about the bed wetting thing, even though we are a bit beyond that stage with this particular daughter. Will take a look at the John Lewis website to see if they can shed any light on the issue!
