Where can I buy multi-packs of (new & different) kids birthday cards?

I need to replenish my 'birthday party cards' draw for kids (mostly boys), and just wondered if anyone had found anywhere other than the usual places:

  • Phoenix - are nice, but EVERYONE seems to send them these days (especially the football/ rocket/ animals ones)
  • M&S - seem to do multipacks for girls cards, but not really boys
  • Next do some good mixed packs of 12, but again, there are more girls than boys ones....

I don't really want to spend more than about £1 a card, as they rarely get looked at!

I use UNICEF, they do an assorted box and then I feel good about it too

I think Woolies do a multipack.

tescos value cards are 25p and you wouldn't know they were cheap if you didn't know. i just buy 4/5 of each when I'm there.

Also if you have The Works buy 3 for £1.50.

Ooh - I like the look of these: Squashed Tomato Cards

(They are also selling some different ones on Amazon).

M&S do do boys multipacks as well as the girls ones.

our local "cheap plastic boxes and other tat" type shops sell cards at 30p or 4 for £1. They do age ones and boy/girl so don't look lik they only cost 30p - and tbh if they do look like it then I don't care, the kid doesn't care and they go in the bin after a couple of weeks. There is no way I would spend £1 on party birthday cards.

Furball · 24/04/2007 06:51

Throw them in the bin? I turn my old cards into gift tags courtesy of a pair of wavy edge scissors and a hold punch!

Tesco bargain cards are v.nice. Boot sales often have card stalls.

We found these in a local shop and they have gone down a storm with DD's friends, both boys and girls.

This US site is doing them more cheaply with a flat rate shipping fee of $9.95 but I am finding it difficult to see whether they ship to the UK (can't imagine they don't).

SueW · 24/04/2007 09:39

Sorry - have just realised US site is Xmas card!

ditto for UNICEF cards... just bought a job lot of tehse... very noce and like yogabird said... done your bit for charidee too!!!

ChasingSquirrels · 24/04/2007 14:25

lol at gift tags - ds uses them for cutting and sticking and THEN they go in the bin. But the principle is the same - I am sure that cheap cards make just as good gift tags?

I've recently discovered a fantastic new company Squashed Tomato which sells packs of 10 childrens birthday cards for £10. These are suitable for a wide age range and are very good quality and original and would be much more expensive in shops. I receive a pack in the post every 3 months which is so convenient, I used to get cards from Phoenix like everyone else but these are so much nicer!

mccleary · 25/04/2007 20:52

that new card company i mentioned is squashed tomato. 15% goes to cancer charities too so everyone's a winner!

Gameboy · 26/04/2007 09:36

Thanks everyone. McCleary - yes, agree about Squashed Tomato - they look fab! I have just ordered some off Amazon from this company (the Amazon range is a bit different) and only £1 each!
