I bought a cheep and cheerful one.
Thats ok but my big mistake was that it wasnt made of that plastic wipe clean stuff. It was like a fabric which cleaned up lovely when i mucked out once a week but took ages to dry. Get a plastic wipe one if you can,

Astrophe · 23/04/2007 14:08

Love. Ikea Antilop. Its cheap, looks good, compact, easy to clean and legs come off for transportation. If you LO is small, buy the blow up cushions. Honestly, you can't go past it...Ikea should pay me as I am always recomending it.

MrsBadger · 23/04/2007 14:09

Ikea Antilop is cheap, cheerful, inoffensive, has optional tray and wipes (or hoses) clean.

Either that or a Tripp Trapp. Or bypass highchairs altogether and get a booster that strap to a dining chair.

NatalieJane · 23/04/2007 14:09

We have this one, but in a different colour way, it is fantastic the only thing I would say is that the harness can very easily be undone.

FLIER · 23/04/2007 14:11

I hate my m&p prima pappa with a vengeance. Too many nooks & crannies to stuff food down and a pain in the a* to keep clean.
Love my handi-sitt, though not for young babies.
The only good thing about the prima pappa was the fact that it could be used from a young age, as it reclines slightly. my little ones sometimes (altho not often) fell asleep in the chair, so I could recline them and leave them.

LaylaandSethsmum · 23/04/2007 14:12

2nd for the Ikea one dead easy to clean and v cheap.

UtterPigsty · 23/04/2007 14:12

Ikea.

GooseyLoosey · 23/04/2007 14:13

Third vote for the Ikea Antilop - loved it and lasts forever, mine now resides in local pub and they love it too!

Hulababy · 23/04/2007 14:15

We have a Tripp Trapp. Got it when DD was 5 months and now use it as a chair for her, at age 5y. Still looks in great condition and gets daily use. It's fab and worth every penny.

tortoise · 23/04/2007 14:16

My DD's have this . Easy to clean, cheap and lasts years!

princesscc · 23/04/2007 14:22

I know you might think its really naff, but I have had this highchair for 12 years and its done at least 6 kids! (cm btw!) Its cheap and very easy to clean. The tray fits in the dishwasher and although the straps are only 3 point, there are rings to fit a 5 point harness. Its great that it turns into a table too. It means that I can have toddler strapped into the chair and another little chair on the other side for a bigger child, for them to enjoy lunch together. Sorry, if this isn't the sort of highchair people have these days, but thought it might be worth a mention!

hana · 23/04/2007 14:28

bea · 23/04/2007 14:42

love it... ikea antilop... and Handysitt... ikea has seen three babies through (currently on the third!) and looks as good as new... handysitt still favoured by my 5 yr old...!

bensmum4 · 23/04/2007 20:52

We have a mamas and papas futura, bought 12 years ago for dd1, has since done ds1,3 minded children, various friends and relatives, ds2 and this last week dd2 has started using it. We have had to replace the plastic insert cushion, but apart from that its as good as new, can convert from a highchair to a low chair, be used with or without the tray, no frills, just an excellent highchair.

princesscc - my high chair is very similar to that, got it at John Lewis and I think it is fab. Ds loves it when I take it apart now as it doubles up as a play table too. Here it is

FLIER · 24/04/2007 11:38

I wish I'd bought one of those, mrsfish, or the ikea one.

Sunyshineymummy · 24/04/2007 11:49

My votes go to Tripp Trapp and Handysit. Have both and they are both fantastic.

mumfor1standfinaltime · 24/04/2007 11:53

I had a mothercare one which I hated with a passion. It was heavy and foldable. I lost my rag one day when after folding it away one day it fell over - I threw it outside!

Would never have another high chair. Used a booster seat.
I must say though that the wooden ones which convert to tables look so much better than my 'standard' highchair.

Enid · 24/04/2007 11:54

love it

ikea antilop

look no further

FirstAtForty · 24/04/2007 12:23

Ikea Antilop is fab, only reservation I'd have is it may not be so good if you don't have much space as it doesn't fold up.

You can remove the legs to store it but it's a bit of a faff. But if you can leave it up in a corner somewhere it's fab and very light to pick up / transport if you need to.

flibbertyjibbet · 24/04/2007 13:03

I love love love my highchair. A tripp trapp. We loved it so much that when ds2 came (ds 1 16 months older) we got another one for him! DS1 sits in his now as a proper high up chair, DS2 in his still in highchair style. For a smaller house (we have a 'dining kitchen' ie we live in a 2 up 2 down!) they are fab, go right under the table, no need to fold up, no need to stick out into the room. Baby has perfect posture in them (don't they all slump in standard highchairs) and eats with the family from day one.
No more expensive than a plastic contraption, and they last with the child for donkeys years.
My american cousin said that they look like a piece of artwork!
Only thing is we had to stop using table cloths as they can reach and pull at anything on the table within reach!!
Tripp Trapps are fab. And mega mega resale value too, not that we will be getting rid of ours for a very long time.
Have I convinced you???

Sunyshineymummy · 24/04/2007 14:56

FJ Blooming Marvellous and Urchin both sell plastic mats which stick to the table and have a tray to catch food. I bought one of these to use with my Tripp Trapp and it works really well.

umma · 24/04/2007 15:58

well, thank you!! So many replies!

I am also favouring towards the Ikea Antilop, or wooden chair such as trip trap or the other kind.

Anybody selling a trip trap?! He he! ......

I went through a few before i found one I was happy with.

Started off with plush cushioned one - too many nooks and crannies. Had a nice wooden tuck away one - but difficult to clean

Now havee the cheapest available from Argo - all plastic all wipe clean - no nooks and crannies.
