storage solutions for clothes - ideas please?

I'm looking for a cheap way to store our son's clothes (no 2 is on the way).
We have plenty of space in the loft or even in a bedroom but I'm fed up with the clothes being in messy binbags, cloth boxes etc.
Does anyone know of any reasonably priced clear plastic boxes with lids that would stack on top of each other perhaps? Or any other ideas?
DS is 3 so I have quite a lot of stuff to store.
Thanks all in advance.

what about the vaccuum seal bags? Put everything inside and then you suck the air out with a vaccuum. We have several with dd's clothes that don't fit. Buy the better quality ones as the cheaper ones tend to let air in.

thanks Hana but I dont think though that they will stack very well on top of one another and also I wont be able to see very easily what is in the pack

mckenzie, does DS have a bed on legs (not a divan)? If so get a couple of those under-bed storage drawers on castors, we have those, each drawer will hold half a dozen v large plastic bags like Matalan's and you can label them with a permanent marker by contents/size.

We bought good sized plastic storage boxes with lids from B&Q - they're the clear one and very solid. They also stack. They are also full of Duplo in this house!

Have you had a look at Lakeland ? They're often pretty good for storage stuff.

What about the chrome hanging rails from Argos here? they're only 6.40! Also, I've seen under bed plastic storage boxes in Asda recently but can't remember how much they are.

I second the vacuum sealed bags - I've mine labelled by age so as I have a vague idea, at least, what's in there. They hold loads but yes, they do tend to slide a bit when stacked which can be a bit of a pain.

IKEA do clothes storage bags in grey fabric that have rigid sides and stack pretty well. THey come in two sizes: 50(w)x60(d), or 100(w)x60(d).

I store winter clothes in summer, and vice versa, in our large holiday suitcases which just sit there in/on the wardrobe taking up good space when not in use (which is most of the year/all year!)

thanks everyone for your messages.
DS has a Little Tykes car bed so there's no space underneath it. But we have a funny 'nook' in what is going to be DS's new bedroom which will be great for storing neat boxes so i think I might take a look at the Ikea, Lakeland and B&Q options.
