Can someone just confirm for me that I am right in thinking Gameboy Advance games can be played on the DS Lite? Am getting dds the DS for birthdays but have just seen a good advance game cheap - shall I buy it or am I wrong (not unusual!!). Thanks

They can be, you're right- just don't appear on both screens the way the DS ones do, so less complex IYSWIM

I know Advance games can't be played a a normal DS.

Not very useful post, sorry.

Dd3's ds lite has a gameboy advance game in it at the moment but she's not here so I can't test that it actually works. It fits though - I can vouch for that.

To contradict Tinker, Gameboy Advance games CAN be played on a DS and DS Lite.

Gameboy (original) or Gameboy Colour games can NOT be played on a DS or DS Lite.

Excellent thank you! However, am now confused (also not unusual) what do you mean Tamum when you say 'don't appear on both screens'? Thought there was only one screen? Sorry am totally behind the door with these things .

Oh, I'm wrong.

misdee · 21/04/2007 18:08

yes they can, but they dont use the touch screen thats on the ds/lite.

vimfuego · 21/04/2007 18:20

The DS has two screens, DS stands for dual screen (not darling son or anything).

The Gameboy Advance (GBA) has one screen. So when you play a GBA game on the DS, you can chose which screen you want it to appear on.

vimfuego has answered for me The DS has two screens, and the action is on one and you "do" stuff on the other with some games. Brain Training is on both screens as though it were a book, for example- you turn it round. The GBA games don't work in that way, of course, but can be used just as one screen games- that's no worse than if you were playing them on a GBA, but is not as "good" as the games meant for a DS.

Ahh right thank you! Haven't actually looked that closely at one before (despite one being thrust in my face with a 'see that's what I neeeeeeeeeeeed Mum' from dd ). Should concentrate more on these very important issues I guess!!
