new estate car advice- bigger boot needed

Just returned from our first family holiday with ds (5 months) and realised avensis boot is too small. Need a car with a bigger boot - thought estate would be good. DH not ready to drive a people mover!

Citroen C5 has taken us on many a camping trip through France and still there was room in the boot for cases of wine on the way home.

They've only got one teeny little baby. They don't need tons of rear leg room or seating for 17.

Fio. I was just trying to get across that you need tons of stuff for a 5mo, but quite a bit less for a 17 mo, even less for a 2.5 yo and virtually nothing for a 3.5 yo. We are not even taking a pushchair for DD this summer and she will be 3.3. So the only equipment she will need is armbands - otherwise it is just toys and clothes. A 5mo is probably in a humungous pram whereas a 17 mo would be fine in a cheapie buggy, for example.

Oh and although my Fiesta is fine and dandy we have always gone on hols in DH's car because he gets free fuel allowance.

Volvo V40 has good leg room. Ours is a fantastic car. Won't have a word said against them.

Ford Mondeo Estate - really great for boot space

I know a lot of people that swear by Volvo estates but really don't think you actually need one unless you are planning more kids soon.

I have a Yaris and fitted me +2 dds + holiday clothes/bedding/duvets/pillows in for a week!

Thanks for all the advice. DH claims i need to pack less and then we could save thousands!-no need for a new car! What do men know!
