I currently have an M&P Ultima travel system and love everything except that I can't fold it in pushchair mode....
DH "needs" a new car so I think I am going to "need" a new pushchair (I don't drive so get new car envy)
I've seen the olther threads on rear facers but they are huge and I'm getting confused so I wondered if anyone would mind helping me draw up a shortlist
my definate requirements are:
rear facing, needs to fold in one peice and good suspension (the roads round here are awfull)
my desirables are:
light weight, one handed fold/unfold, small when folded and red
I am thinking about the Buzz but want to know what alternatives there are. I love the look of the icandy cherry but can't get any idea of the price. (it looks expensive!)and I can't get to a stockist to see one... I am aware of the M&P valencia and the bebe comfort trophy but know nothing about them.
Any info on the above would be appreciated. And are there any more out there? (btw. dd is 8 months and I'm not looking for a travel system this time.)

Buzz - won't fold rear facing, you have to switch the seat around to forward facing. One touch fold I belief, but no experience of this. Also quite bulky when folded - some cars need the pram wheels removing to get in car
Infinity - same as buzz re seat but no as wide when folded.
Loola - can be folded no matter which way the seat facing but heavy. Good suspension. Folds similar to an umbrella fold pram so less room need in car.

I've got a Loola but had an Infinity. The infinity was definitely lighter and easier to push but both prams are two handed fold needed. Loola is great as it can fold whichever way the seat is facing.

I borrowed a M&P one to try which I think was the venezia (is that what you mean?) - if it was that one then it's got awful steering when rear-facing - the swivel wheels are at the back, which is hopeless - you have to push the back of it away from you before you get to a corner in order to do the turn. It was good in other ways (and very easy to flip from front to rear facing with the handle) but the steering was a nightmare.

Yes the Loola is good, does what you need and looks smart, but as previous post said, it is quite heavy.
But it is a comfy buggy and has plenty of room for growing babies/toddlers so perhaps not a bad choice for you now...

I have the cherry and love it. however you have to separate it to fold it up. very light and good suspension. costs 210 for the chasis and seat unit.

littleducks · 18/04/2007 23:36

I thought that two piece folding would be a faff but its not too bad, i fold the chassis with dd still in the seat, it will stay as a seat if propped up.

icandy cherry btw, £210
imho suspension isnt all that (i didnt think it had any but may be wrong, i thought suspension meant springs?)

I'm probably not reading your post right, but I have the M&P Ultima and you can fold it with the seat on.

It doesn't fold very small mind you, but it's enough that I can get it in the boot of my car if I faff about taking the back wheels off, and the hood [sigh].

You just make it lie flat and then fold as you would if you'd taken the seat attachment off the chassis.

Of course, it weighs a lot in one piece... One of my reasons for getting a car was so that I didn't have to keep carrying the pram up 3 flights of stairs. A very expensive mobile shed of sorts.

entropy · 19/04/2007 20:03

thanks for all this info!

I know what you mean about the ultima folding of sorts with the seat on but its not good enough for me to lift on and off busses and also far too big to fit in the tiny luggage rack (the chassis only just fits on its own!)

is the Buzz a faff to swap the seat before folding? (could you do it with a baby in a sling??)

I'd not really thought about the loola. did my back in trying to move it while very pregnant and that put me off it don't think its any heavier than the ultima though and its weight isn't a problem. think I need to look at one....

How sturdy is the cherry by the way? I'm visally impared and we tend to bounce off a few lamp posts and buss shelters. the ultima takes this in its stride (think thats cos it is so heavy so wondered if the cherry would struggle) I didn't realise the cherry was a 2 piece! does it fasten together in any way once down or are you left with 2 bits to carry? (this would be a problem unless I could grow more arms)

and yes I did mean the venezia I think I saw one one ebay where they said the front and back wheels had been swapped round to make the swivel at the front when rear facing. I may however have dreamed this...

apple folds with seat on, cherry doesnt so people get mixed up.

I take of seat push it flat, fold chassis then slide seat into chassis, stands up by itself but not the easiest thing to carry as it bumps your arm, it is still light.

Dont know what the buses are like near you, here i would leave dd in seat, take it off, fold chassis and leave her in seat propped up on bus.

seems sturdy.

might not be ideal for a bus, i have taken it unfolded and same on train but if you ALWAYS have to fold as opposed to SOMETIMES have to fold i would pick something else

entropy · 21/04/2007 09:50

thanks, am I right in thinking that the apple is forward facing only?

OP posts:
littleducks · 21/04/2007 11:45

no apple has reversible seat, but folds with seat facing forward only i believe, is heavier than the cherry and only available in blk.

ChasingSquirrels · 21/04/2007 11:57

bebe confort trophy is a relatively easy one piece fold, didn't like it myself when i tried it but not sure why!

i have the bebe confort activ - now discountinued - v lightweight, v small fold, folds with seat on, not one handed fold, but not majorly sturdy either. i had it for ds1 and am now using for ds2 and love it.

also have a babystyle cyclone (3-wheeler) which folds with the seat on and one handed, but is so big and heavy that it wouldn't suit. Same probably applies to the Bayamo which is the 3-wheeler version.

Have you thought about the Bebecar Rversus or the Ingelsina Otutto.

entropy · 21/04/2007 23:12

never heard of either of them. will google tomorrow... thanks

I am now liking the look of the apple. will try to get to see one at some point!!
