3 piece suite cushions splitting again. What would you do?

I would like your advice, please.

We bought a 3-piece suite last year, paid for it on 4th July, it was delivered on 23rd July. In about November last year, I noticed that 2 of the seat cushions (1 on a chair, 1 on the sofa) were starting to split along the front seam. I called the shop we bought the suite from, and they (eventually) replaced the cushions for us. However, one of the new cushions has started to split in the same place, and one of the original ones is now looking like it's going the same way. It seems that the cushions are overstuffed, so when they get sat on (which obviously happens a lot!), the pressure is too much, causing the splitting.

I have 2 questions:

Do I need to sort this before we get to a year after the suite was delivered (ie Friday)? Or does it come under the new law (very vague here) that says that things should be fit for purpose for a reasonable time (and obviously, 1 year is not reasonable - in fact 6 months for one of the cushions)

Should I ask for my money back, as there is obviously a design fault with the suite? I don't really want to do this - we decorated our whole lounge to match the suite - but there's not much point in having a matching suite if it's ripped. Would I be within my rights to do this?

I would be grateful for your thoughts and advice.

Thanks

Not really sure what your actual "legal" rights are TBH, but surely if the replacement cushions are now splitting in the same place, there is a fault. Did you get a written guarantee/after sales service information supplied when you purchased the suite? If I were you, I would speak to Trading Standards Office to find out what your legal rights are, then I would write to the supplier explaining the above and asking them what they intend to do about it and give them a deadline. I had the same problem with my sofas (3 years ago) and they started ripping in the first week. It was obviously a fault in the fabric aas they were splitting in neat lines. I had mine out of Freemans catalogue so I rang them up and they sent out someone to take photos etc. the man said yes that was fine, they would send someone oiut to repair the faulty parts of the fabric (by replacing them basically) About 3 weeks later I had a letter from freemans saying they wouldnt repair the sofas because they believed it to be pet damage (which it wasnt) I appealed but they still stood by the statement that it was pet damage. I never got any further and the sofas continued to rip and detiorate. Needless to say I never bought anything from freemans again and I have had to save for 3 years for a new sofa it is so annoying isnt, hopefully someone will have some better practical tips than me
