Looking for inspiration for the kids (7,5)

OP posts:

this climbing frame hideously expensive but fab.
Or a trampoline
or one of those free-standing swimming pools
space hoppers
swingball
badminton set
table tennis table

Clary · 16/04/2007 16:15

swingball
basketball hoop (new but v successful)
skipping ropes
trampoline (we only have a small one)
cricket set
badminton set
rocket zoomer
footballs are best actually

Piffle · 16/04/2007 16:16

tp explorer climbing frame
pole tennis

tortoise · 16/04/2007 16:17

Trampoline
Balls
Pool in the summer
Play tent
Water slide

JackieNo · 16/04/2007 16:17

Current favourite is a falling over dead conifer that's going to be removed soon, as they can get behind it and have a sort of den.

bungalowbelle · 16/04/2007 16:17

A paddock with ponies and a dressage course.
Keeps them occupied for hours.

Astrophe · 16/04/2007 16:18

sand pit, but mine are younger.

Anyone with toddlers/pre schoolers got a slide? Is it popular or does the novelty wear off?

bungalowbelle · 16/04/2007 16:19

A slide is a good idea. They can slide, drive cars down it, push each other down it and in a large garden with terracing, like mine, it's a fantastic mode of transport.

Clary · 16/04/2007 16:20

Yeah we've had a slide since DS1 was 1. Still well used tho a bit little for its original owner now, he's almost 8....

Clary · 16/04/2007 16:20

He still likes to sit on top of it to eat a picnic tea tho!

Mercy · 16/04/2007 16:20

Mine are younger than yours but faves include

paddling pool
spacehopper
football (small one)
water pistols
bubble-gun/blowing bubbles
drawing on walls with chalk, also painting walls with water

they all seem water based don't they? There must be something else mine do!

exbury · 16/04/2007 16:20

Climbing frame.

(better buy than a slide for toddlers IMHO - we bought DS his (TP) one when he was 2.5 and then added bits to it as he got older)

other than that - footballs, golf set, and habitat have some really nice wooden quoits/croquet/fishing game at the moment.

MintChocChippyMinton · 16/04/2007 16:21

We've graduated from a little tikes slide to a big TP one and both get used a lot (usually for climbing up LOL)

Mercy · 16/04/2007 16:21

I know, pop-up tent!

They like playing camping and having picnics.

MintChocChippyMinton · 16/04/2007 16:23

a zip line between two trees is fun
Or a tyre hung from a branch.

scotlou · 16/04/2007 16:24

Other kids!

We have a large play tower, huge trampoline, ride on digger, massive sandpit..but nothing gets played with unless the neighbours' kids come over!
