We had a look around the store today. Lovely kitchens. We have someone coming out next week to measure up for a quote.
Interested to hear peoples views please.

Thanks.

We got one for last house - defn worth waiting for a sale - everything always half price - and our sales advisor told us to come back a couple of weeks later, as last weeks of sale they knock extra money off - ours was a bargain - and yes, we were very pleased with it.

Hi funnypeculiar - they have an offer on at the moment. 50% off all cabinets and we also have a £500 off voucher we can use at the same time. We have already had B&Q here to give us a quote, have one other company coming tomorrow, then Magnet next week. Out of the three have to say the styles and qualities of Magnet was definitely top of our list.

We got ours from Magnet 5ish years ago. The units themselves are fine, but the cowboys who put it in were dreadful and I'm still not entirely happy with it.

I would rather go to Ikea and get a carpenter / plumber to install it than go to Magnet ever again.

Really? What did they do wrong?

Well, to start with, they failed to turn up when they said they would. The fitters then did two jobs simultaneously, the other 20 miles away; they made such a hash of it we finally refused to let them enter the house and Magnet had to find a much more reputable firm to put right all the things they messed up.

We were without a kitchen for more than two weeks (fortunately didn't have ds at the time) and were assured when we ordered it that we wouldn't be without a sink for more than a day (it was more than six).

The staff at the showroom were unhelpful and really couldn't care less about it once they'd got the job.

There were a catalogue of disasters which I can't really remember now, but I'll read through my notes if you'd like!

Oh dear. Not good.
Mind you I've heard people complaining about all of the kitchen shops for various reasons. I posted on the staff board at work re: B&Q kitchens and the replies I got back were unbelievable. MFI are supposed to be dreadful as well.

Have you thought of John Lewis? That is, if you have one near you. My mum had one from them and it was very nice

When we had all the hassels I contacted Watchdog and it didn't seem to be unusual. However, it was five years ago and they may have improved since then.

funnypeculiar · 14/04/2007 22:26

We didn't use Magnet to fit, tbh - got a recommendation of a good local bloke. He still took twice as long as he'd said he would & went ski-ing in the middle, but he did a good job

had 3 -- loved them all!
