Ours is cheap and crap, DD is nearly 14mths and getting heavy! We have two dogs and walk regularly so would like a decent carrier that is reasonably priced - any thoughts??

Vango. DP and DS love it. It took a while to adjust it to get it right, but I guess that is the same with all of them.

They originally made rucksacks, which is why the designs for the baby carrier is so good. Have a good look round on the web to get the best price.

Ok, a really silly question I afraid.
I tried a back carrier in a shop in Aviemore last summer and it was by far the most comfortable I've tried. It was expensive though so I decided to look on ebay for it instead, but I've forgotten what type it was .
I do remember the logo was an 'a b c' in bright colours. Can anyone tell me what it was?

Fab, I knew it had a funny name. Do you like yours?

WormEater · 13/04/2007 20:23

Oh noooooooooo!
Now I'm going to have to go to a shop with a bush baby, and one with an ergo and try them both again. Arrghhhhh. Life should never be this complicated.

monkeymonkeymoomoo · 13/04/2007 20:33

DH has back trouble will he be ok with an Ergo?

Yes I got backache using other carriers, whereas the Ergo was great. You soon learn the art of getting your babe into it.

Cheaper than the ergo is the Patapum - almost the same comfort and design wise, and less rucksacky looking - more streamlined and stylish. If you like fun designs, the Beco is also similar in design and comfort. And the Yamo is available from eBay.

I like the mei tai and have carried my 5year old in one for over an hour with no problems which is good as I have a prolapsed disc in my spine. DS 18 months though prefers to be on the front which is not so good on my spine but if it keeps him happy and quiet I don't care.

if your dh knows how to put on a rucksack properly, ie, the way 'proper' hikers do or they teach how to in the military, and not get back pain, then he can use an ergo.

dh likes the ergo because it doesn't look girly or lentil-weavery.

i think mei-teis like patapum or babyhawks are gorgeous but he wouldn't be caught dead wearing one. (goes against his x-royal marine image.)

me, i love wrap slings, they are the bees knees but dd at nearly 2 steadfastly refuses to sling these days. only hope she starts to agree again soon.

re celery's post - i disagree about the patapum, found it much more fiddly to put on than the ergo... but the yamo i have from ebay is practiually identical to ergo, so i approve of that (is nice red and p[atterned fabric too)

Gobbledigook · 14/04/2007 14:09

I'm with gingerbear - we have a Bushbaby as well but we bought it 6 years ago so that's why!

Can't fault it though. It's fab.
